Speedrun Explained 60 (Update 3); Speedrun Explained 61 (Update 1)

Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates! Been working hard on the next video, which I have some updates for.

SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #60

Now that the Half-Life 2 video is wrapped up and released (on Patreon), my focus has shifted to the video on the Any% speedrun of Cuphead. This run has a lot of variance to it. This isn't spoiling much, but the odds of getting perfect luck on the first isle alone is 1 in 12.6 quintillion, so there is no shortage of things to talk about in this run. I currently have the first dozen pages or so of the script written, which sits just over 5,000 words. This also only covers the first 5 minutes of the 30 minute run. Thankfully, as most these videos go, they're pretty front heavy with establishing how a lot of things work, so I think that the remaining 25 minutes will be less intensive to write about. I'm personally really enjoying the writing process for this one so far. It's not as packed with humor so far (usually what I focus on at the end of the writing stage), but there are some recurring bits already and just overall the script feels really tight so far. I'm also staging out a lot of edits I have ideas for in the script, which I usually don't focus on too much. In short, I have a lot of editing ideas that I can't wait to implement with this video. I'm hoping to wrap up the script by the end of this month and then have the video done by the end of June.

SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #61

This is the recent winner of the Patron's Choice poll, The Simpsons: Hit & Run (SHAR for short). The run submitted/chosen for the poll was the Any% category, since the poll prohibits runs over an hour from being submitted. In the past, once a run was chosen, I've made exceptions for things and modified the run that was chosen for a variety of reasons. When Portal 2 was chosen, I pivoted plans to make and release a Portal video before Portal 2. When the Any% run of Control was chosen, I pivoted to covering All Bosses (at the suggestion of the runner), since the viewer was give more bang for their buck. This is another time where I'm pivoting a little bit from the chosen run. SHAR is one of my all-time favorite speedruns to watch, and one I used to watch live attempts of every day before I left for work. I would personally feel remiss if I make a video for this game and it wasn't for the All Story Missions category. To me, this is the SHAR category and provides so much more than the Any% run, along with almost 30 minutes of extra run to cover. It is a sizable increase in video size, but it's one I'm comfortable making for a special run like this one since it's really worth it. I've reached out to a runner and they're currently working on recording the run. I am honestly not sure when the last time I was this excited about a video was. This video likely won't be out for awhile, possibly September, so please be patient! It feels like the majority of videos I'm making this year are of longer and/or very technical runs, but it'll all be worth it in the end.

Thank you all for your continued patience and support. Can't wait to show you all this Cuphead video when it's done.
