I am a long time DOOM fanboy. When I was in school we spent our evenings playing the first DOOM on a friends 486, before people were even using a mouse to play it. I played this installment of DOOM and Eternal and all and I love it. That said: This run is boring in my opinion. Boring because it feels like nothing but out of bounds and railboosting. I *know* that it is extremely difficult to do and I know it is borderline cruel of me to call it boring after being shown how much precission and skill it takes. But still, I am not entertained by the speedrun.
I very much like your video, even if you cover a run I dont care about. I love dry humour and you had some nice jokes like that in there. You say your way of speaking seems stiff and I agree. But that adds to the fun in this case. You sound a bit tired and annoyed that way, like how a news anchor would cover this speedrun. "Look now he does this. It makes no sense, no normal person would try it but it works. Hurray for insane dedication." And here it works for me because I am sitting here and am shaking my head about how far away from normal DOOM gameplay his has gone.
I dont like the asterixes. I would never stop watching the video to read them. So I would never use them intentionally to add info. Decide what you want to say and say it and cut whats not worth saying. Thats my thought on that. I would only use them as a last minute thing if you realize you missed something and dont want to recut the whole video.
Your timing on explaining tech and the usage of tech is worse, compared to some earlier videos it seems. The "grab the gun" moment was a great example of it, you were right to point that out.
Anyway, I was entertained by a video covering a speedrun I dislike. So all the entertainment came from your comments. However negative I may sound, I think you did a good job. Not my fav, but for sure well done.
OK my first thoughts on this!
Have a nice day!
