Thank you for all the detailed feedback as well, super appreciated! Agree with a lot of what you said.

As I mentioned in my own comment below, I am a fan of SummoningSalts speedrun history videos. As he often covers NES games he has to explain the concept of a "framerule" each time. And he does. Each time. Because it is a basic concept that you urgently need to understand. Over time the explanations have evolved and now when the term "frame rule" is dropped for the first time in a video of his I smile because I know whats to come and wait to see how he does it this time. In a recent video he made the joke to label his explanation segment as a speedrun itself and ended by calling it a world record. And afterwards another speedrunner even challenged him and "beat him" by leaving out part of the explanation and calling it a "skip" (with times for segments and all). It was glorious. My vote is for explaining the important parts again. The important ones only.

"Hey at least its going to make your videos better. " The professional approach to anything: Dont deny mistakes, understand them and become better. BTW when I first watched that video I was blaming myself for being confused.

Hey man, sorry to hear youre powered out by the last weeks, I was the same, enjoying a few free weeks now. Take your time to get that endurance meter maxed out again, you deserve it! With all the jokes and comedic self-bambboning you doing you may try to cover up how hard youre working, but it still shows, good job man! Ok I am just starting the video and decided to list my thoughts here. 1) I agree that the way you worded the into wasnt ideal. The info youre giving was valuable, but the negativity wasn't. Just turn it around, instead of saying what youre not doing and what the video is not, use positive statement: "This is an indepth-analysis of a very recent and exciting development. If you find yourself lost at any point, feel free to pause the video and check out the previous one, it explains all the basic techniques" and just cut the line about no live-commentary, just say "I included an ingame-sound version of it in the description". Just as easy as that. Ok watching on... 2) About additional graphics: Yes, good thing, but be carefull not to distract the viewer from your own voice. You ever been in a corporate meeting and the guy speaking has a bad powerpoint running and you lose your train of thought because of all the graphs and gimmicks hes showing and its just confusing? Dont be that guy. I'm sure you know that allready, still saying :) 3) About the bad joke: Yes, dont call people stupid for not know things. I love SummoningSalts videos about speedruns and I watch them even if I never saw the game he is talking about. If you never played Fallout NV you might not know that stuff and you are not stupid for that. Good thing you caught that! 4) The "manifest destiny" thing: Yep its fun, like the "big gun skill check to convince Kellogg". You know the StarTrek TNG episode with the aliens that speak in memes? Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra? If not, watch it, its exactly that! Replacing a precise work with a phrase that is less precise but invokes a feeling or meaning in a perfect way. 5) The reveal of the glitch: I disagree a bit with you here. As I see it your way of doing it works, but only for a small audience. If you were away for a few weeks and came back to playing and someone linked this video to you and you would be introduced to the glitch this way, it would be perfect, right? "Hey we found a new glitch and it saves 90seconds! Here, we need the DLC gun und cripple the leg, thats why we use diffrent stats, and then, look whats happening! (glitch footage)" It would be all you need and youd instantly understand it, right? Its not bad, but I think its done for the wrong audience. You need to decide who this video is ment for. I guess you are targeting the masses that are not an active part of the runner community. And yes, they need more info first. addition to 2+5) As the glitch footage itself is just saving/loading all the time there would have been a chance to minimize the footage itself and show a map of the game instead showing the long travel paths to explain why movement glitches are so important. I feel you could to that more often. Treat the game footage as one of your resources to explain the run, but allow it to be put aside if other info is more crucial. Ok at this point you have decided to hate the video and I decide to give up following it in detail :D I agree that the disconnection between video and comment is bad. Seeing you hating your imperfections is giving me some perverted enjoyment, you seem so motivated to be even better that it makes me smile! Ok, watching the rest in silence, funny vid man, happy holidays!

Appreciate the thoughts edced! The video doesn't really feel like it fits with the rest of the SPEEDRUN EXPLAINEDs, and I had zero memory of it being structured like this. Super insightful to watch to say the least. The Q&A announcement post should be going up later today, so keep that question in mind til then!

I just finished the retrospective, i do agree with you that it does miss something. If it was done today it wouldve been a lot better. Like you said, adding clips, pausing, etc. wouldve added a lot. I think that it should not be a speedrun explained but a major glitch explained (ooo i got a question for the q&a). Hey at least its going to make your videos better.

For the part about repeating the same thing as an old video it really depends on how long ago the original video was. Like you said it should be understandable by itself but a line like "if you want more detail you could go watch x video where...". Re-explaining glitches (like vlc clip/punch warping etc.) is pretty important for each video cause its a major glitch in the engine. Anyways im just rambling, but i do agree with what you said during the video. Can't wait for fallout anthology! Have great holidays tomato and rest well.
