SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED 20: Update 2 (and another new video too?)

Mirror's Edge is really hard to write for lol

As a speedrun, there's just so much going on at any given moment, it's so fast paced, and it feels like there's always something more important to explain at any given moment.

That being said, I'm almost done with the first third of the script. Whenever I work on videos, the first third of the script is always the hardest to write. Hopefully once I wrap up this third then the rest will easily flow out, but knowing this speedrun, it likely won't.

Writing for this speedrun may be super difficult, but I'm actually really enjoying how it's turning out so far. In my last update post I talked about how I actually didn't like how my last video turned out, despite positive feedback. I also talked about how to me I had lost the feel of my videos that they had when I made DOOM (2016) and Dishonored videos. This script though feels like writing those older videos a lot. I'm not sure exactly what it is, maybe the pacing? But I'm really liking how it's turning out so far.

So when will it be done? I'm not too sure. Hopefully I'll have the script finished by this time next week, but I'd much rather write something I'm proud of and have a cathartic experience with rather than something I crank out trying to hit a self-imposed deadline. I'll keep you updated with a post next week though on where we're at. Once I finish the script, the rest of the video should go a lot faster. When I originally started making videos, writing the script was the easy part and recording commentary is what took awhile. Since then I've changed how I make videos on my end and I've gotten a lot more comfortable recording commentary, so each video's production goes faster as I get closer to the end.

Anyway, here's the thumbnail.

So what's this about another new video? Well I had an idea for a video near the end of last week, and after thinking about it for a bit, I'm going ahead with making it (and actually making it unlike potential side projects I mentioned at the beginning of January).

One of the most common questions you get on speedrunning videos are "how on earth was this found?" So I want to make a video focusing on about 3-4 glitches and go in-depth about how they were found.

You may be thinking about how EZScape has similar videos, and this is true, however mine will have a different approach and only focus on a few glitches per video. While EZScape lists out ten glitches and covers them briefly, I instead intend to talk with the person who discovered the glitch, and have them go through how it was found, what they were trying to do, how much time it saves, etc.

I think that it  would be super interesting and informative to hear the insight from the discoverer themselves. The videos would largely be made up from the conversations I have with them. Plus I spoke with EZScape about it and he's cool with it and thinks it's a good idea. I think this video will take awhile to make because I'll be going back and forth between messaging people, coordinating a time to talk, editing, spacing things out, seeing if I need more interviews to fill out the video, more coordinating, transcribing, etc. It'll be an involved video and take awhile to make, but I fully intend to make it nonetheless.
