Ad Free Feed (fixed)

Hello everyone, I figured out how to add it on apple podcasts, go to library -> click 3 dots -> follow a show by url -> paste link in.

Just to add more context: as my feeds configuration is managed via a public Github repository [1] I would rather avoid to use my Patreon custom link, otherwise I'll end up on leaking the token which in turn can be used by any non-Patreon user to fetch its content. And you'll probably find it as another case in gPodder [2] sometime in the future. Because of that I prefer to use an already public RSS address. Is the feed address "https://darknetdiaries.com/feedfree.xml" intended to be a private one? If yes, how the authentication is handled? I see the Patreon address is in the form of "https://www.patreon.com/rss/darknetdiaries?auth=..token.." which make the authentication part easy to understand. Can you also explain which is the difference between the two addresses? Is the second one also reporting bonus tracks?

Spotify doesn't support external feeds. If you want to listen to this feed, you'll have to instal a real podcasting app.

I use the Google podcast app and there is a way. Go to Library Then Subscriptions Then in the top right corner there is a link icon. Click it and enter the feed url

Sadly there is no option to add RSS to Google Podcast you may have to use an other app for that

Yeah. It's really counter-intutitive (to me, anyway) the way it is now. I am a Patreon of another podcast that simply puts its bonus episodes in the same feed as the main ones.

That's some serious honor system you got going there. Other podcasts lets us jump through hoops to get the ad free version to be sure the feed won't spread to people not paying. Thanks for being that awesome! Suggestion: Make a feed for the bonus content?

A bit late to the party, but just go to podcasts.google.com on a desktop (or request desktop site in your browser) and add there. I'm not sure if this was possible when you had your problem but a fix is available now.

Not that I know of. Its an issue with spotify. As far as I can tell, you need to use an RSS app of some sort.

I switched to using Pocket Casts a while ago. I liked the minimalist design of the Google Podcast app but this one just feels a lot better. Can add custom RSS feeds, plus I went ahead and did a subscription to it and now I can listen and sync progress of all my shows on my PC. Using Google rewards money I was able to subscribe for a year free. Just a thought for you if you want to give something else a try. The lack of RSS was what finally did it for me.

Stupid Apple and my dumb brain. Go to the Podcasts app, goto "Library", goto "Shows" hit "Edit" in the top right hand corner then select "Add a Podcast by URL". Not quite intuitive.

I discovered Darknet a couple months ago when a coworker told me about the Stuxnet episode. Ever since I've been burning through the catalog. I look forward to mowing my lawn because it means I'll have Podcast time. Bus late? Ah, who cares, it's Darknet time while I wait. Heck, I've even been taking four mile walks during my lunch hour so I can listen to Darknet. However, today I finally caught up. Now I must wait for new episodes to come out. Today is also the day I started supporting the show. THANK YOU!

Daily Tech News show has multiple feeds with users choice based on perks/payment levels. So I know it's possible, just not exactly sure how. You may be able to reach out to them as they have work with patreon a lot to help improve podcasting and feeds.

What's really a travesty is the captcha to login to patreon. Took me 10 minutes.

Are you aware that patreon also has rss feeds for its patreons which you could use? In that case, patreon would also handle the authentication to make sure only paying patreons are using it. Indeed this is a public post. Also as an FYI the Patreon email notification of this post totally munges the link for tracking purposes so people who try to use the link in email may hit obnoxious issues. But the feed appears to work in Pocket Casts on Android so Yay!
