The cacophony of the market is heard long before it is visible to river travellers. For new arrivals, one side looks much the same as the other, with merchants hawking wares at the top of their voices and myriad aromas some enticing and others repellent. The locals know the difference. Their side is full of decent folk with almost fair prices and the merchants across the river are bandits in disguise. Even armed with this knowledge, there is a steady stream of customers crossing both sides and not as many fights as expected between the opposing shores.
