One Year of Writing
Added 2022-05-28 18:06:38 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
It's time for a little bit of talking. The title already says why. Today, on the 28th of May 2022, I have been writing Owlnother World for exactly one year. In five days it will be one year since the first chapter was posted on RoyalRoad. It's... kind of insane to think about it.
Since I started I have written 212 chapters averaging 2000 words. That's somewhere around 424.000 words total. Add onto that the 30k from the new project and it's over 450.000 words in one year! That's like five traditional novels! It also has just under 1 MILLION views on RR! Just about 9000 to go! I can't believe it...
Wait? 30k words for the new project? Yes! I have another chapter ready! It's been a little difficult. Mostly, I just use it to write when I don't feel like working on Owl. That doesn't happen often. There's one more chapter for the first arc after the one that'll be out in an hour or so.
One more thing about the 'new project'. I semi-decided on a title! It's like 90% locked in but I'm kinda happy with it. The title I want to use right now is: Dole. That is not a very common word. It means distributing something, especially in the form of charity. I feel like it really fits with my ideas for it. I'll keep writing it whenever I feel like it and when something is ready, it'll come out. I might just wait for a full arc to be done after the next chapter and release it all at once. We'll see.
Now! The most important thing! Thank! You! Seriously. Everyone here, thank you so much for your support! You guys make my day. Whenever I see a comment, a like or even a new patron coming in, my day just brightens up! Without readers, Owlnother World might have never reached this far. Without your financial support, I might have had to focus on other things and lost interest in writing. Or lost the flow. You guys are the best! All of you!
I've learned a lot since I started and there's still so much to improve on with my writing. I've done a first editing pass of the first 12 chapters of Owl by now. The goal is 57. After a second pass, I'll probably release it as a proper ebook. That is likely going to be sometime late this year. October-December. Somewhere around then. I feel like I can make this story even better but I don't want to get stuck on making it perfect. I can't do that, anyway.
That's about everything I wanted to talk about right now. I've occasionally felt burnout from Owl but it's easy to take a simple break by just doing other things. I might take off one or two days next month if it gets worse. Then again, this point right now is simply a little difficult to write. I don't think procrastinating will help much. I might just simply take longer to get the words done. Like with Chapter 210 and 211. Both of those needed several parts revised.
Now, with one final thank you, have a nice weekend and onto another year!
Cheers!
