Oh my GOODNESS.
This has probably been the busiest week of my life but in the BEST possible way. I talked about this a little on stream but I've had the strangest sort of... paradigm shift? I'm not really sure how to describe it fully but I'm feeling really great about art and the future.
There are a few things I've been meaning to study and elaborate on, so y'all might be seeing another mini study post from me here soon. Hopefully it ends up being enlightening, this is all very new to me, but at the very least I can share some knowledge!
ANYWAYS, to the exciting stuff! I've been putting together two different illustrations for patreon and they're both evolving in their own ways.
One is based on the horned viper (WIP #1) and I'm trying out a more structured, cleaner line method for this illustration. Previously my planning stages were a bt messy and painterly, which is where I felt like I thrived when creating, but since working on Lapis I've been wanting to attempt another clean approach. So this is a test and hopefully it yields a positive result! So far I'm really loving the outcome, but I'm still thinking about some details for the background and the very cozy pile of snakes.
AND as you can see, our second image is me returning to my comfort zone. The mess of color and painterly shapes. This is the process for obsidian, and while it's far more bare bones than our viper, my vision for it is large. I'll likely be tweaking the colors and values, but I'm imagining a beauty enveloped in a hot bath of magma. Perhaps her heart is made of the same?? Who knows, we'll find out.
Other than these two projects, I've been putting together a proper shop on my website (LONG overdue, and even though it's tedious work someone has got to do it, right?) and doing some research for an upcoming project about artists and organization!
Things are only bound to get crazier, I'm sure, and I can't wait.
What are you working on this week?
