Part one, Block-In

Here you go! A pencil block-in:) This is a continuation of a short series painting a Peach. This is usually not my method of working but it is something that I think you will find beneficial. Parts 2 and 3 will be uploaded soon. Be sure to comment with questions to take advantage of the exclusive content for Patrons Only and your direct access to me, the artist. I check this page more than any other because you are paying to get information so be sure to ask me anything.

Part one, Block-In

yeah George, you can paint on a lot of materials but there is some limitations and it can be detrimental to the longevity of a work. For the most part, ACM (aluminum composite material) is a safe substrate to work on. I use PVC panel now, similar but slightly more flexible. Canvases and panels are the most common. Everything usually has to be primed to work on. I use basic gesso from Utretch art supply to a much nicer, more expensive lead-based ground from Natural Pigments.

Michael, I guess you can paint on about anything but what type of material do you generally use for your full- scale oil paintings? How thick and do you cut out various sizes with a table saw? Purchase at Home Depot?
