Part one, Block-In

yeah George, you can paint on a lot of materials but there is some limitations and it can be detrimental to the longevity of a work. For the most part, ACM (aluminum composite material) is a safe substrate to work on. I use PVC panel now, similar but slightly more flexible. Canvases and panels are the most common. Everything usually has to be primed to work on. I use basic gesso from Utretch art supply to a much nicer, more expensive lead-based ground from Natural Pigments.
