Zombie apocalypse! As if the existing one wasn't enough Chapter - 2

With me leading the way, we venture into the depths of the cave until we reach a massive metal door reminiscent of a bank vault. As I approach the imposing entrance, I notice that there is no handle to pull or key to insert. However, without any visible prompt, the door smoothly slides open, revealing the hidden lair beyond. Despite their initial skepticism, Amy and Vicky are visibly intrigued by the unexpected entrance and follow me inside with growing anticipation.

As I guide Amy and Vicky down the stairs, the scope of my operation slowly comes into view. The basement has been transformed into a sophisticated high-tech bunker, complete with an impressive array of living quarters, labs, and a state-of-the-art command center.

The atmosphere is one of awe and amazement as we take in the sheer scale and complexity of the operation before us.

“Ok, what the fuck is your deal? What is this place? How do you know so much and what is your power?” Amy finally blurted out, her tone tinged with equal parts incredulity and frustration.

“It's complicated,” I replied, trying my best to remain calm.

“You say that word one more time and I give you every cancer known to mankind,” she threatened.

“Whoa!, Jesus relax,” I sighed, “well, there's no way other than to just jump right into the deep end then. I come from a completely different world where no powers exist, and this world is a work of fiction and you both are characters from said work of fiction.”

As Amy and Vicky continued to process the information I had just revealed, I could sense their unease growing. Amy's eyes were filled with desperation as she looked to her sister for reassurance, while Vicky's expression was one of pure disbelief.

“Please tell me he's lying,” Amy pleaded, her voice trembling slightly.

“He's telling the truth,” Vicky confirmed, her voice barely above a whisper.

Amy let out a defeated sigh, as if she had just given up. “Well, that's just great, isn't it? So, I'm just going to have to check you for brain damage or have an existential crisis, wonderful.”

Vicky cuts in, trying to steer the conversation towards a more practical direction. “You still haven't told us what your powers are.”

“I can summon objects from fictional worlds with certain limitations,” I replied, hoping that it would be enough to quell their concerns.

Amy's sarcastic response was completely expected. "Wow, what a detailed explanation of your powers," she quipped.

Vicky redirects the conversation before an argument could break out. "It doesn't matter at the moment," she said. "You can explain more when you feel like it. Anyway, for now, what is your plan of action?"

“I don't really have a proper plan yet. I wasn't really planning on ending up here now, was I? But Right now, I plan to explore the base and figure out how to best use my powers before going out to explore. You two are welcome to stay in the bunker for as long as you like.”

“Thanks. We might need it,” Vicky said gratefully. “Does Brockton Bay even exist here?”

“Yes, it's mostly a walled fortress like most major cities, but I have no idea what the situation inside is,” I replied, knowing that the reality of their situation was starting to set in.

The two sisters went their own way to explore, and I went in the opposite direction.

While exploring the building, I stumbled upon what seemed to be an office. This was the perfect opportunity to test my powers. I grabbed a notebook and began writing down everything I could about a simple spear.

Inside the office, I noticed some expensive decorations and decided to use them as a sacrifice. With my focus on the paper and the decorations, I activated my powers with a mental switch. The decorations vanished, and I was holding a gleaming spear in my hands.

Although there was nothing particularly special about the spear, it was very well-made. I also gained a sense of how long it would last. I experimented with summoning a few more basic weapons, which gave me an idea of what I would need to sacrifice to obtain serious firepower for a considerable amount of time.

Additionally, I discovered that I had an inventory-like space where I could store my summons until they timed out, which would certainly come in handy.

Now that I had a better understanding of my powers, I needed to figure out what weapons I would summon first and what items I might need to sacrifice to summon them.

As I meandered through the seemingly infinite network of corridors in the underground base, my gaze was drawn to a sign that read "Library". Intrigued by the prospect of uncovering new knowledge, I made my way towards it. As I crossed the threshold, I was welcomed by an awe-inspiring sight: towering shelves, packed to the brim with books of all sizes and colors, stretching as far as my eyes could see.

As I perused the endless array of volumes, my fingers trailed over the spines of weathered leather-bound books as well as sleek, modern ones with glossy covers. Then, like a bolt out of the blue, a handful of titles seized my attention, prompting me to pluck them from the shelf. Among them, one book stood out - a weighty tome devoted to the study of ancient mythology.

I chose a secluded corner and sank into a chair, eagerly delving into the pages of the ancient mythology book. My heart quickened as I absorbed the knowledge within. The prospect of conjuring the fabled weapons described in its text was simultaneously thrilling and daunting. My thoughts whirled with a dizzying array of possibilities, and I found myself wondering what mighty objects I could summon with these books as my conduit.

After much contemplation, I finally settled on the weapon I wished to summon. However, I knew that I needed to offer a considerable sacrifice to invoke its power. As my thoughts churned, I realized that in this post-apocalyptic world, money and gold held little value, except as a medium for summoning. With that in mind, I resolved to venture into the nearest town and locate an abandoned bank. Its contents would provide me with the gold and money necessary to summon my chosen weapon.

With a somewhat sensible plan in mind I go look for the two other occupants in my base to ask for help.

Vicky didn't know what to feel as she and Amy had wandered off and found themselves in the cafeteria. They were both sitting in front of each other in silence. So much had happened in the past few hours that they hadn't had time to comprehend all of it..

They had died, their world destroyed by an otherworldly entity, and she had almost accepted that fate. But now she had ended up with her sister in another world that was worse than the one she had left behind, but at least they had a chance to save this one.

She didn't even want to think about the other things that George had told them, but it was hard to ignore.

"So, how sure are you that your powers are not broken and he has been lying to us the whole time?" Amy asked.

"Everything that he has said has been the truth, and I actually believe him. Think of all the shit that has happened so far, Amy. Is this really that far-fetched?" Vicky said.

"Sigh… You're right. What do we do now?" Amy asked.

"He has told us we can stay here, so we'll start with that. I'll go and scout any nearby cities in a while," Vicky said.

"He seemed to imply that the bay was nearby, and considering the situation, it would be very hard to explain our circumstances to the paranoid people living in walled-up cities," Amy said.

"We'll start with that. Have you checked out this zombie virus? Does George's explanation make sense? Can you do anything about it?" Vicky asked.

"I have checked it out. It definitely is Nilbog's work, and the cure is not going to be easy. I might be eventually able to make a few doses. Mass production is definitely not possible, so we better not tell anyone about it," Amy replied.

After discussing a few more things, George walked into the cafeteria where they were sitting.

"Hey, are you guys done talking?" he asked.

"Yeah," they replied.

George then said, "I have an idea on how to best use my powers, but I'll need your help to execute it. We need to rob a bank."

"What?!" she exclaimed in disbelief.

----------

After realizing that my initial statement may have caused some confusion, I took the time to explain in detail what I meant about my powers. Fortunately, my explanation was well received and we were able to proceed with our plan.

Feeling more confident in my abilities, I approached Amy and asked if she could make some modifications to enhance my durability, speed, and strength. To my delight, she agreed to help.

Excited and eager to put my new and improved powers to the test, I made my way to the armory and armed myself with a few guns, just in case.

With the help of a map that I found in the office, I was able to get a better understanding of the base's location. We also obtained directions to a nearby abandoned town that was big enough to have a bank, but small enough to have been abandoned after the zombie outbreak.

After making all the necessary preparations, we finally set out from our base in the outskirts of Brockton Bay. The town was a few miles north, and with nothing pressing happening around us, I took the opportunity to observe our environment, sweeping the barren land with a tense gaze.

It took us a few hours to reach the town, with Vicky scouting in the air and taking out large groups of zombies, while I practiced my aim with a Glock on some stray ones. The journey was a bit nerve-wracking, but we eventually arrived safely.

However, our plan to enter the town without much effort went off the rails when we arrived to find a fierce battle already underway. I saw some heroes I recognized, including Armsmaster, Miss Militia, Assault and Battery, fighting against what appeared to be Hookwolf, but with one slight difference - he was the size of a plane.
