Added 2022-11-25 13:45:32 +0000 UTCI had meant to post this last week, but I caught a stomach bug, so I spent the weekend feeling miserable instead. It's a shorter scene, at about 1000 words.
It used to be a bit longer, but I've trimmed some dialogue during the editing that wasn't working as I had hoped. I plan to re-add (some) of that deleted dialogue when I have found a better way to word it.
A small update on the update is that I finished the writing for the third scene, and have been working on the fourth scene.
However, this scene is proving very difficult to write (as expected) because it is a conversation with the landlady and is very dialogue-heavy. I've changed some of the scene from the initial outline I had of the conversation, and to be honest, I'm still not quite happy with it, but I'm kind of stuck on it.
Due to that, I have taken the time to finish editing this scene, and I have worked on the third scene as well. On top of that, I have also made some code changes and quality-of-life improvements, such as introducing a white/day theme, allowing Sarah to be renamed, an explanation of the keyboard navigation, as well as reworking the diary scenes to be paginated, and, in general, to not be as messy codewise. I have also fixed some grammatical errors throughout the text (wrongly capitalized words after ellipses).
On the topic of this scene itself, it's mostly just meant to show the impact of the boy and Sarah dating. And also to have the characters clearly realize it is having an impact and that there might be a problem.
It's building up to the upcoming divergence of the two routes and the conflict that will be happening now.
