[MGM]: Volume 1 Afterword

Hi, Drifting Embers here,

First of all, I want to thank you for all the support you have provided, without which I wouldn't have come this far—so, Thank You!

With the end of the volume 1 at 60 chapters and over 94k words, I'm left feeling rather conflicted. The numbers might not be something to be proud of, especially in our community, but it's something that represents a hurdle I have faced and overcome. On one hand I'm proud, on the other, not so much...

A lot of things happened in the past month, my exams, work and then my sister falling ill. Which affected my working schedule and in short made a mess of my work. I guess, that's probably why I'm not particularly proud of the later half of this volume. Of course, I wouldn't blame it entirely on that.

When I first started writing this novel, volume 1 was intended to be an introductory volume—one where I basically introduced characters, the world and magic system and then set basis for the plot moving forward. It wasn't supposed to exceed 30 chapters, but... here we are.

Volume 2 is where I actually set things into motion, progress the plot and all that. This will probably the longest volume of this novel. So, look forward to that.

Volume 3 is the climax, where we wrap up the plot. Tie ends and reach conclusions, basically. It will probably be only as long as Volume 1 itself.

At last, Volume 4 is meant to act as the Epilogue; it will be the shortest volume. And with that I will have hopefully wrapped this book up.

As I writer, you tend to look farther into the future—where you will end and the steps you will take to reach(I guess that's part of being delusional). Monster Girl Menagerie was meant for me to learn the ropes, so that I could step foot into the real field. But—as always—things got out of hand.

Now I have two other projects, meant to progress alongside this series and probably the one I will pick right after.

Let me share a few things about those:

At The Crossroads is an interesting idea, which might sound and appear dry at first glance, but I can assure you that it will flourish in the future. (If you want to learn more about it, refer to the ATC Foreword). Anyway, this series is meant to progress slow, so maybe 2-3 chapters or even less a week.

Then there's Drifting Dao, another neat idea which might appear an overused cliche at this point (and it is), but I implore you to give it a try. I don't know about other writers, but I have sometimes have this urge to create. So, I would sit in front of my computer, opening my writing software and starting typing away. I would build whole worlds, power systems and all, and even characters and their back stories. Sometimes, I would even write a couple chapters. This has happened to me a lot.

So, when the idea of Drifting Dao drifted into my mind, instead of building everything from scratch, I decided to build on top of something I have already created a long time ago.

Drifting Dao is a fasted paced progression fantasy novel, which is meant to act more as a junk food. There's plot, lots of it, but if you've read my first chapter (of course you haven't, I have yet to release it; unless I already have?), you would understand that it's not I'm skipping anything, I'm just rushing through. I'm trying to keep the prose short and concise and not get too much into detail.

So, there's that.

I guess, that's all I wanted to say. Once more, thank you for your support.

Oh and almost forgot, there will be no update for two days. This is because, I keep telling you guys about discord and then failing to keep my promise. So, I have decided to finish the server and organize my notes a little and then come back. Hope that's alright.
