MY ENDING FEELINGS:
(spoiler alert!!!)
I'll likely do a highlights video of the show for my YouTube and I'll film an ending thoughts of how I feel about S4, but it'll basically be what I'm writing below so y'all get to see my POV first!
—Dongho & Arin: love them, since the beginning. No drama, just vibing with the experiment and experience. I know edits play a lot into everything, but I definitely feel that the show tried to throw in a triangle with Haelin. Not saying that I don't think Dongho found her charming because I'm sure we all found her personality fun and she was a good "game changer", but if anything, it seemed like she might've effect Jeongsu more since he had said she was the best girl at one point (something along the lines of that). Arin stayed true to who she had feelings for and Dongho not only did the same, but was upfront with the other women who expressed interest to respect their feelings, and I highly admired that. I hope they're still together!
—Hyejin & Jonghoon: I thought they were cute too! I wish we had much more scenes of them together so that I can have more to say lol- I do really admire the scene where she stepped up to announce her interest in front of the group in Inferno and how he followed that up with a "same with me" moment too. That's not a usual thing to see on the show where they are super straight-up with their feelings/interests, so that was really refreshing to see.
—Jiyeon & Tehwan: I think y'all can tell by my reaction that I was a bit surprised hahaha- they had their super cute Paradise date then things didn't seem too stable after. It's like the edits pulled a plot twist on up for jaws to drop, and ours totally did. I do know people in real life who are socially awkward and especially more so with a camera in their face, so I don't know if that was the case with Tehwan. I am still like "HUH?" about that moment when they shared their dreams/goals in life with each other, and considering Jiyeon is not only a queen but one who dreams for a family, I naturally want more reassurance for her. But it is true that he stayed true to her and didn't act on any curiosity for any other woman, so I'll give him that.
—Sian & Junseo: I'm so happy for them! And I was so shocked to see that most of Twitter and basically social media in general hates them together as well as individually. To each their own, however- a lot of things said about them are really nasty and unnecessary, and I can't help but to wonder if the ones who are doing so much hating are inexperienced in real life... but that's all I'll say about the haters. There hasn't been a couple like them from my POV. They didn't even have interest in each other in the beginning, which made their eventual relationship feel more organic to me. She made Junseo really put his guard down and even made me forget his intimidating EP.1 entrance and he helped her with letting all her emotions happen versus holding it in, which I feel like she was doing with Jeongsu and Theo. I liked how he never pushed her. I do see some arguments about the time in Paradise when he was asking her questions back to back. However, I saw it as him not only continuing conversation, but I feel like he sensed that she was trying to stay composed for him and he would've rather let her be real and honest (which is why, at the time, she had said she liked Theo). What secured them for me was 1) realizing that Junseo was the only one that she had expectations for and 3) THAT SMILE when he opened the door and said "hey, whats up?". It takes true feelings for that specific smile to happen. I hope they're still together as well!
Youjin: MY GIRLLLLL!!! My favorite. What I'm happy about is how she didn't allow anything or anyone dim her light. Her first date with Junseo was really good but he seemed off after (which I still don't see why), and it hurt to see how he ignored her the couple of times when she tried to talk to him post-Paradise when they were at Inferno, so I'm so glad that she moved onward versus lingering. I really hated that moment when the edits made her seem crazy while she was drunk-swinging whereas when Sian was on the swing alone, there was no "she's crazy" edit-vibe about it. That moment of her being lightheartedly annoyed by being assumed as the Unnie only to turn out to actually be the Unnie was priceless. Youjin was a fun, adorable, and bright light from the beginning to the end of the show.
Minseol: so she's the one who is the person that I mentioned that I felt annoyed by at times (please don't hate me!). But I definitely gave her grace because she's young and also, THE DAMN EDITS lol- I felt like she saw a lot of things the way her heart wanted to see it, which I can't blame her for because I've done the same in my 20s. I started getting annoyed after she still kept persisting after Junseo didn't choose her for Paradise and especially after their Bus-stop talk when he confirmed that he was going for Sian. I think it's because I felt that she was such a great personality and super cute that if she were to have let him go and tried to pursue someone else, she would've been better off. But as Selena Gomez sang, 'but the heart wants what it wants'. I did feel so sad for her when she was saying "you DID have fun in Paradise with me, right?" while she was trying to hold back her crying with laughing instead. It broke my heart because I saw that as her trying to reassure herself that it wasn't just her that felt that they had a great time. I definitely see that Junseo is super comfortable with her, but platonically.
Hyelin: she came in like a WREEEECKING BALLLLLL, totally. Blew all the guys' and girls' minds with her bold personality. She plot-twisted me with pursuing Dongho instead of Jeongsu because she seemed to be super attracted to him. I also thought her game-changer vibes was gonna stay hardcore until the end (like Minji for Gwanhee in S3), but her light quickly dimmed out and she seemed to be ready to check out even before filming was over. I thought she was super cute, an interesting mix of Jihyo and Lia. And like Minseol, I think she wanted to see that she swayed Dongho a bit, whereas from what I think, Dongho was always about Arin and his reactions to Hyelin's flirting was him being shy and awkward.
Jeongsu: oh maaan, I know y'all knew that I wasn't a fan at all in the beginning hahaha- but he started to cool down with the vagueness. As my husband said, he came off as people-pleasing, which I can sympathize with because I used to PAINFULLY be one to where I got myself backed into corners because of it. I loved how he treated Youjin at Paradise, gave her her credit while making it clear that it was platonic and stayed true to enjoying their date instead of focusing on Sian the whole time. I felt so sad seeing how quickly his smiles about the clouds dissipated after seeing Sian on Junseo's shoulder. He would totally hate the bed scene then and likely glad that Sian went with her heart versus what made her feel "safe". Sian also may have been initially attracted to him but looks and attraction can only go so far, and maybe either his conservative ways or his vague personality didn't win her heart in time.
Theo: I wish he gave Youjin a chance!!! I felt the connection between them and even he had said that Youjin needs to be with someone who balances her out. Maybe they're too much of the same kind of vibe? Although Sian was confused about Theo at one point, I already knew that she was gonna friendzone him. I'm glad she did so early on so that he can just relax, because during the moments of him waiting for her, his light was dimming. He's such an awesome guy and I'm happy to see all the love he's receiving.
Comments
i agree! junseo and sian were so unexpected but that talk over drinks changed everything. he could see she was overwhelmed and he kept trying to draw out those emotions that she was hiding. that's honestly what someone who has real intentions of dating and being with someone would do lol. theo put her on a pedestal (as he should) but she couldn't really be herself around him and i felt like she wasn't attracted to him. same with jeongsu, that last paradise date felt like he was interrogating her about what happened with junseo (but in reality that's none of his business lol) so she had to explain herself to make him feel better. she can just be herself around junseo and you can see how differently she acts when it's just them two lol that smile she gave him haha i love them together! they don't deserve the hate being thrown their way. i love arin and dongho together too, they were the green flag couple hehe. please check out the reunion episode and the behind clips! so much stuff got cut out due to evil editing lol this was so fun thanks thina :)
