Reason why your mix ain't phat 7/9

A lot of people do this one, especially some house producers.

Learn to hear when it's too much...in some chunky, organic styles this isn't really needed. Nothing like hearing some jungle for example where transients are way overcooked :-/

To some this may be very obvious, but you'd be surprised to how many it's not. Some tools are just overused these days, just like clippers, highpass filters…the music is suffering from overprocessing.

BTW we gotta get Breakbeat Of The Month going soon – I have a dope break I've used that prob no-one else has, so it's time to unleash that beast into the world!

Sorry for making it so fast! Hope you got something out of it. It's easy to test yourself: take any drumloop, loop it, and start overcooking the transients. Then on/off.

Hey Fanu, great tip there. With these videos I like to go by ear. Especially for me as a beginner when it comes to Mixing/Mastering I like to train my ears rather than just following whatever tip the internet throws at me. If you could let the loop run for just a bit more it would really help to have more of a clear comparison.
