Paint by numbers much? Why your mix lacks power reason 5/9.

They'd like to paint (mix) by numbers and adjust their mixer levels for elements based on what someone is telling them. This may not work out.
Here's my best explanation, with audio, why it may not be "the bomb".
Reason 6 will be one of the best mix self-help tips I can give you, and I do mean it.

Yeah I mean, a good example: I just did a big mix+master for majors (Warner). They only want the loud versions (extended and radio), but no “streaming version”.

Sad how much I have to be reminded just to use my damn ears lol. Somewhat related question about mastering: when you're doing a master and hitting "target LUFS" I guess to a reference track, do you ever do separate masters/levels for different streaming services? I have seen various presets in metering plugins (thinking of Waves WLM) for like "Soundcloud" "Spotify" etc etc. But don't the services just turn it to whatever volume they feel? Should I be doing separate masters for different services? A bit unrelated sorry haha but still in the "levels" discussion. Thanks!

Honestly, I’m starting to get an idea of just how many times of messing it up are necessary to develop a good ear for these things - and it’s an awful lot! 😅 I have started to listen more for groove, so I can now hear when I’ve compressed the life out of my drums 🙃😂
