Ableton Live 12 scale awareness

In my Ableton Live 12 features post back in Nov 2023, I went through many features that Live 12 offers. I didn't fully get the Scale feature back then (sorry!) and it's been bugging me ever since, and I want to get into that and explain it better.

Hence, here's a quick video for ya'll demonstrating how you can use this "scale-awareness" to create melodies and chords that all stay in the relevant scale.

You can change the scale that devices/clips/notes follow pretty easily now!

Any Qs? Ask, and I'll try and answer.

Much more Live 12 content coming! Gotta love it.

Live 12 should be released in "early 2024". It's a huge update.

I'm in the alpha and beta teams and have been reporting bugs and all that.

I've also been making noise about some other good stuff that matters…can't say what :P

Yes, there's always that way. It would have been so handy to have this feature though. Anyways, there's not much we can do hey.. still an amazing software.

I have no info on that but at least not in Live 12. One can of course export or record/resample internally which gives the same end result.

Very nice vid! What's your take on the absence of a group freeze feature? Do you think there's a chance they might implement it in the future?

Oops wrote this on the wrong video!

Thanks for the video. I love AD2. Just realised it is possible to automate mixer settings, which opens up possibilities. The automation on individual parameter processing is limited, but you can automate pitch and room/OH send levels. Shame you can't switch kit pieces, i.e. swapping snares, but i guess thats why there are flexi slots.

im excited about whats coming. although i wish they would finally add a new refresh button to the browser more than anything lately. its instant in FL, but takes like 10 min sometimes for it to discover there are new samples in a folder

Midi is getting very strong with Live 12 TBH!
