Ableton Push 3 [video]

So Ableton Push 3 is out today.

Available as a standalone and non-standalone versions.

I was happy to receive my unit early and I've been a tester for a while.
So, wanted to create this video for release day.

Hope you like!

Redux video up now!

Janne Hatula

It will come in June!

Janne Hatula

Not for me. I’d rather like to see a Redux sampler video.

Super! Not trying to belittle the Ableton efforts, of course 🙏

Ilia Sarantsev

Not trying to do anything new for now compared to Push 2. Being standalone is a biggie alone :) But knowing Ableton, they take development very seriously, so this is the start of something great, imho.

Thanks for the video 🙌 In the controller mode, does it add anything new to what you can effectively control via the device? I mean controlling external VSTs, other vendors' Max for Live devices and effects, and maybe programming interface for your device? I don't own Push 2, but I remember reading that it was very limiting to what you could do with external plugins.

Yeah I felt too that NI hasnt really gone anywhere recently. Without sounding like an Ableton salesman, I can say there's a sick amount of development going on, also on the software side, big things…but I can't or won't say a word 🤫

Janne Hatula

and it says that if you go for the non-standalone version then you can latyer upgrade it to standalone with an upgrade kit. Sick. I can't really afford this right now but looks like something I'd like to buy into later. I felt like I burned myslef with the NI ecosystem as they weren't really developingin the right direction for me (or any direction tbh). But in Ableton I have a lot more trust. So this thing doesn't end up being a useless brick later :D

Yeah I heard some Ableton heads had already pimped their unit with some parts that are even sicker than the default ones in it, hehe. It's a great unit…feels good and sturdy too!

Janne Hatula

Alright, just checked the price. It’s not cheap but it’s a very high spec computer under the hood so understandable. Also they write: “replace processor, battery and hard drive as technology improves”. So this could be a nice long term tool hopefully

Wow, now this is something. I only have the Push 1 that I don’t really use because of the so many limitations. I used to have an NI Maschine but that was PITA to finish full tunes or do proper sound design / mixing. This Push 3 could be something for me

hologroove

It literally just dropped :) I’m an early tester and that is why I have an actual unit already.

Janne Hatula

I managed to somehow miss all of this, your post is literally the first time I hear about it. Still working with the first version you helped me get back in the day lol. Cheers for the post, I guess it's time to weigh the upgrade option once again
