Yeah it can feel damn good to let it roll out…no need to rush to the next breakdown and drop etc (pet peeve in modern music sometimes that main sections are shorter/less than the rest!)

Really dig this track and been caning Mr Shifter's remix lately. Feeling the same about dnb being to hectic and found my self naturally wanting to let the tune I'm working on just roll out the groove and work on subtle changes to the ride and fill patterns.

First of all: congratulations, such an awesome release! About the rhythm of the drumline: that's an interesting territory. I've experimented around doing polyrhythms / polymeters with the drums and other elements. So far I always reverted back and arrived at some simpler and more "traditional" solutions. I love it when it's done in some experimental techno stuff. I also think it's easier to make it work in a techno context where the elements are more repetitive and more "static" (not coming in-and-out crazily like in d&b). You need to lean in on those as a listener so that it has maximal effect. So my atempts of fusing techno and d&b failed so far but I don't give up :)

I agree, let it roll out!

There isn't anything special other than getting the EQ right; drums are sitting higher than the bass, and the synths too occupy their own space, not really clashing much with each other. I know that sounds pretty simple but that's mostly it!

Nice. So much thickness here! Bass is really fat, chords are really fat. I know there's loads out there on sidechaining and equing etc, but wondered if there was anything specific here that helps elements cut through all that thickness. Drums particularly really punch through. I guess I can just imagine that if I tried this stuff would start getting lost in the mix..

Absolutely!
