Pro-Q3 kick/bass sidechain
So in a nutshell, place the EQ on your bass track.
Activate sidechain view to see the sidechain frequencies.
Create an EQ node, and turn its outer (dynamic) ring counter-clockwise.
Click on "auto" and then the little arrow-like button – this activates dynamic movement for the EQ node based on the incoming sidechain signal.
Notice that the incoming signal has to exceed the threshold (shown in the video).
Notice that the amount that you turn the outer dynamic ring down is the max amount of cut (dB) that it can do.

What's prob a hair better sidechain is for example one with MAutoDynamicEQ by Melda; it has time parameters, unlike ProQ3 (at the end of the this short video, I feel the recovery time in ProQ3 feels a hair slow). I might do a video of that, too. But most of the time I use ProQ3 as it's so super quick to set up.

2022-11-21 07:08:27 +0000 UTCYeah I feel you. I've just been writting in the bypass automation with LFOTool for kick doubles and VPS MS as a audio triggered sidechain. Been pretty tight. But I like this video for a more precise frequency sidechain definitely will try it especially with the nice proQ3 freq blender UI

2022-11-21 07:03:05 +0000 UTCI often put the ProC sidechain after this; seems that's enough. Timebased would work but when producers do double kicks, I always have to go and do automation for those....sometimes I use Shaperbox to shorten their kicks, which means I gotta do automation (device off) for every double kick or deviation from the standard 4/4 pattern.

2022-11-21 06:36:13 +0000 UTCHey Janne, Is this your go to for kick/bass sidechaining? or it is more so for carving out some frequency space for the kick? similar to how you'd use trackspacer vst for example. I've been using VPS Multiband Sidechain3 for a while now as my main sidechainer. It's pretty clean and I can sidechain more so in a timebased way *example snapping to an 8th note so I know there is isn't any conflict with frequencies. I've seen this done with pro-mb & soothe aswell but I found it wasn't as tight as I liked it Thoughts ?
