(Patreon exclusive) How to compress drums for punch using any stock compressor – simple rule/technique [VIDEO]

Alrighty! Let's get the mixing month on.

In this video, I'm showing you how you can compress your drums for added punch using any standard compressor out there.  Let me know how it goes!

(Embedding a Dropbox video doesn't seem to work, so DOWNLOAD from a direct link to my Dropbox video file)

Note: this is Patreon exclusive, so the video is not publicly shared.
Even if you technically can, please don't share the video, but do let friends know about my service if you find this info useful (I haven't figured out how to password-protect files in a quick, convenient way that only Patreon users could access it, so I'm trusting ya'll)

Me, I usually EQ before compression. Example: your drums have way too much low end and you want to compress them. If the compressor isn't able to filter out the lows from the trigger signal, it's best to EQ them to be like you want and them compress them.

When applying EQ to drums, should it be done before or after compression? What difference does it make?

I'll email them and let them know.

Ya it’s very strange because it looks like it will play and then just displays an error, all good though

Thanks for letting me know! I think Patreon have a bug in their code: creating a video post and entering the link to the video file does create a player with a play button, but clicking on it results in nothing. Hence the DL option :)

Just confirming that the embedding does not work, but direct link works :) great video!
