2025-11-07 21:58:43 +0000 UTC(also hopefully someone from Chester was watching this. If ever I have to refer to Chester - which is quite rare - it *must* be qualified with “near north Wales off the M56”).

2025-11-07 21:39:42 +0000 UTC“You blonde bastard…. from the future!” …..That is, without a shadow of a doubt, an Armando Iannucci line! I nearly died laughing* when I first saw this. Silly facts. Coogan and Iannucci were writing this at the same time as Linehan and Matthews were writing the final series of Father Ted. They say on the DVD commentary that there was a friendly competition to see who could finish their series [SEASON!] first. So Coogan and Iannucci pulled the other two in to play a couple of characters, thus delaying them. I’m Alan Partridge went out six months before the final series of Father Ted, so I guess the distraction worked! 😂 Also found out quite recently (I think it was the Richard Herring podcast which is quite old); the room full of photographs is actually based on a real experience that Stuart Lee had when he was doing stand-up and going up to Edinburgh for the festival. Had to blag a room to sleep in from a fan who’d been watching ‘Fist Of Fun’ and when he got into the room it had loads of posters of him and Richard Herring in it! *didn’t nearly die just laughed quite a bit.

2025-11-07 21:29:20 +0000 UTCSteves, parents are Irish and he spent a good bit of time in Ireland. He's done some Irish films as well. I'm from Derry, the one the bloody Sunday song is about, and you guys would absolutely love Derry girls it's an excellent show

2025-11-07 17:23:54 +0000 UTCWhen the Queen died I did put that quote in our group chat and that was how my friend (who is a massive partridge fan) found out…

2025-11-07 03:11:45 +0000 UTCWhen Alan is escaping his crazy fan, it is Alan's car. He told the Irish television executive guy's that Jed was his driver. So that's why Jed was driving them to the house. 👍

2025-11-06 13:22:51 +0000 UTCTo be fair though, I'm sure the persons in question *cough* would enjoy this series onwards. Knowing Me, Knowing You has probably dated the most in all honesty.

2025-11-06 11:26:07 +0000 UTCTo clarify what you said at 15:00 minutes in, when you asked if the 'Aha' was referencing the 80's pop band. In the previous series, Alan did a live chat show called 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', which is referencing the ABBA song of the same title. In the song there's a moment after those lyrics, where ABBA sing "ahaaa". Alan simply took the 'aha' part and copyrighted it as his catchphrase. Alan is basically a massive ABBA fan. There's a few small references to the previous series in this and future series, especially episode 1 when Alan is asking the head of the BBC for a new series. So don't worry if you don't get some of the references.
