Double Slit Experiment

It's Monday you guys.....

Comments

To my simple mind, the most obvious and immediate thing to rule out is any sort of electrical field interference from the sensor that affects how the molecules are behaving, probably on an atomic level. Quite how you do that I'm not sure. But, if you were trying to prove that then the most obvious thing to do would be turn off the sensor and see if the molcules returned to their original pattern /direction of travel, Which we know they do. My only reservation is that, that is so obvious the scientist must already have considered that. Maybe the have but have no way to prove or disprove it. 🤷‍♂️ who knows.

Viewing the particle makes it act as a particle. Not viewing the particle makes it act as a wave. It's a puzzle, it breaks down our current understanding. There are some very very sophisticated double slit experiments happening currently which are very interesting indeed

It's the light itself from the detector which causes the change in behaviour.

The frustration here is that the original video cuts off just before the explanation - which is that the light from the "atom detector" causes the change in the behaviour of the atoms, proving that just observing atoms causes them to behave differently, therefore making it impossible to know exactly what an individual particle is doing NOW as well as being able to predict what it WILL DO in the future.

Jim Al Khalili is a great science educator.

I am glad I added this to the wheel, very thought provoking, as you say Stephen, what is interfering with the atoms at a quantum level. Lead on to simulation theory..

Tim Covill

I watched a Brian Cox documentary once about quantum physics, blows your brain. Some people suggests it's a case for a creator as it's like peaking behind the scenes at something we should not see.. I'm neutral.. but it is very fascinating.. I read that quantum computers don't work if you spy on them also.. Normal computers, zero and ones... Quantum, zero, ones and maybe..!

100%

Sound waves from the beep of the detector? Some other environmental force in play? This is weird!

Jason White

I wondered where I knew that guy from, finally twigged he's in the Cunk On.. series 😅

Kaye

Bi want to thank you guys. From a an insomniac thank... best sleep ever!!

Michael t

My brain 😭 your brains 😭

Emily

Their are much better videos on this though, I must say lol

Nothinghalo

Ps, I do wish I could spell and text better. I have so much to say,bit I can't putting words 😩. I can chat about this shit forever lol

Nothinghalo

I have watched so many videos on quantum mechanics, quantum computers ,it is so interesting

Nothinghalo

I love and hate this at the same time lol. It so interesting, but it hurts my head
