https://youtu.be/HSQ29-TBe0M

The November 2024 LGR Wrap Up episode is now up for yooooouuuu! Still in the temporary rental location that I'll be in for the next however many months. So let's dive into the few videos from the past month as well as your questions!

Feel free to leave any questions for next month's video in the comment section below this post. Thank you deeply for your ongoing support, you are legitimately my primary income right now since normal LGR YouTube stuff is still iffy with most of the LGR stuff in storage, so once again — THANK YOU!

Oh my goodness, I'm very sorry to hear that! Truly hope that you can find a resolution in your favor... Also glad that you're still with us but wow, what a nightmare of a thing to deal with after such an emergency :(

You have mentioned Computer Chronicles quite a bit, did you ever watch The Screen Savers on TechTV? The Screen Savers, Maximum PC magazine, Quake 3 Arena, and the Doobie Brothers were all an integral part of our IT class/club/feral band of misfits led by a "reformed hippie".

Any new years resolutions? Do you do them or nah? 😊

The discussion about the line between collecting and hoarding is one I can really feel. My collection is a lot smaller, but there's been a temptation to pick up anything because "ooh, big box". The simple line of "does this have some meaning to me" has been a good starting point - big box copy of Civilization was this year's notable addition, but I've swept straight past a bunch that I hope someone else will get a lot more enjoyment out of. I still need to go through that old box of DVDs - really torn about liquidating them given the low value (and likelihood of getting into landfill), but there's very little in there I care about.

Hi, a question for you. I love music and kept all my old vinyl from my youth (I'm in my 60's). I was watching one of your old thrifting videos, number 8 or 9, around 2014 and you managed to grab about 30 LP's for a dollar each. I recall one was a Phil Collins album, which I personally like as well. But very different to Nine Inch Nails!! Anyway my question is. Do you still collect vinyl, now it appears to be popular again, and did it survive the hurricane? Seasons Greetings to you and yours. Jeff

A question for the next video, apologies if you’ve answered this before: will you ever look at the Commander X16 that the 8 Bit Guy is spearheading? I’d love to see your take on that machine, been debating getting one. A response to this video: I feel you on abandoning Windows. With Valve making Linux far more usable for gaming and Mac fixing the awful hardware issues the 2016 generation has, I’m happier than ever not using Windows at all. I get the usual “fanboy” comments but at least I don’t have to uninstall Candy Crush anymore :)

Hey Clint, long time viewer, first time question asker! I've always loved revisiting your Chirstmas videos this time of year, especially the WizardWorks one from 2020 (world peace... it could happen!) and the Oddware one from 2022. On the subject of the latter, I noticed you were rather surprised by the quality of the Little People Christmas activity center and it always makes me go "heck yeah, that's late 90s/early 2000s Knowledge Adventure for you, dude!" So my question is, how familiar are you with Knowledge Adventure's stuff in general? FYI, I run a channel called "JumpStart Archive", so I'm admittedly biased towards that series in particular, check it out if you want! (RIP Edutainment Month, would have loved to see more JS reviews, but oh well)

I’m with you on the Windows thing — it’s been so incredibly infuriating lately. I’ve switched to MacOS and Linux for everything but my gaming machine, and I’m probably switch that over to some variety of Linux next year. Sucks it’s gotten this bad!

I've been using Mac OS X since 2006 or so. I never really cared about the so-called platform flamewars, because it's dumb to "stan" a company, especially big corporations. I've felt mostly felt neutral about Windows, just seeing it as a perfectly viable alternative for people with different preferences. But my stance started to change with Windows 10, with Microsoft changing their business model to be focused on services and ads being placed within the OS. Windows 11 looks to be a fully realised version of this "vision" it looks truly dreadful with all the features that seems to be added for the benefit of nobody. So when I built my own gaming PC in 2020 I wasn't even thinking of installing Windows on it. I went for Pop!_OS Linux instead. Thanks to Steam's Proton gaming on Linux has never been more convenient. The only downside is that some multiplayer-focussed games from AAA publishers don't work because of anti-cheat not working on Linux. But I don't play those games anyway. So my question is: have you tried using Linux on your gaming PC for the purposes of gaming?

Hello Mr. Basinger! A while back you instructed me to drop my questions to your latest Wrap up video, which I forgot to do because apparently I´m a senile 40-year-old. This whole situation with the hurricane is truly awful, I´m very sorry about your house! But it seems like you´re overcoming these dire obstacles and who knows, maybe your renovated house will be even better than it initially was :) Here´s a couple of Q´s: 1. Have you thought about making a video about some high-quality retro computer speakers? I realize you´ve already made videos about your awesome Roland MA-12Cs and also Cambridge SoundWorks FPS1000 speakers (which I also used to have). I just find this topic fascinating and I believe it would be useful for the retro hobbyist community. 2. Have you thought about putting together an old-fashion retro LAN party (lava lamps and neon lights included) with your friends and making a video about setting it up and just footage about retro enthusiasts having retro fun? Thanks for all the awesome hard work with your channel after all these years and I hope there will be many more! Best Regards from Finland Kalle

YouTube viewer: "Well... I didn't actually *want* it.... I just wanted to complain about not having it"!! Kind of linked to David K's question in a way - did you see that LG are no longer making blu-ray players? I was reading comment on that and one thing that came up was that when we only have streaming we'll no longer have decent quality options because streaming bitrates are garbage. Do you worry we're going to end up screwed by streaming and be forever paying to own nothing and watch in lesser quality?

I just finished the video on the X-10 Home Automation after binging a significant number of oddware videos. With automation being a big thing these days from Alexa timers to automated curtains, is there a form of technology or peripheral that wasn't a success back in the day that you think would work well today? With the increasing popularity of VR we see people appreciating the big screen function similar to the Sony Glasstron. Also, is there a form of technology that has phased out in recent years or the last decade that you miss? I miss rocking an iPod. As convenient as music streaming is I feel like I have lost the appreciation that comes with buying a single album and taking the time to listen to it from start to finish over and over. Of course nothing is stopping me doing that on Spotify but with thousands of songs at my fingertips it's sometimes easier to throw a random playlist on for my drive to work.

Hope your insurance stuff goes fairly quick and smooth. I'm having a huge argument with mine. I had a stroke on Nov 19th. $200,000 hospital stay later and my insurance has denied my claim 3 times now. Even though I've jumped through every one of their hoops.
