Hello Patrons,
This is one we've had brewing for a while. It's an overview of the whacky land of Tasmanian politics with historical context explaining why Tasmania is the way it is. We know you patrons like the longer explainer vids so we think you're going to like this one. It's not all history though, we've got some up to date info about goings on in Tassie.
Expect the QLD video you voted for next week, we're filming that one tomorrow alongside something big you won't see coming!

When the newly elected Liberal Tasmanian Premier ignored federal environmental legislation stopping the dam being built and continued construction, then Labor Attorney-General Sen. Gareth Evans sent two RAAF FIGHTER JETS to spy on the dam project. PM Hawke and Defence Minister Gordon Scholes were, allegedly, not aware of this order. How's that for action on protecting the environment? Labor will, literally!, send fighter jets after you!

2025-09-22 18:10:05 +0000 UTCA lot of the voter base are those that would have only ever voted liberal (so think your retired, sold their Mainland property for squillions, managed to land a cheap house here, don't want the little guy to succeed, "welfare recipients are a stain on society", dickheads) The younger generation have nothing. Not to mention the fucking ferry, stadium and bass link. The Bass Strait tax is a killer and so is health care. That debt though. Woof. Tasmania is the place to come die.

Arguing that they don't need the stadium because some once a year hippy festival happens with 80,000 people.... She defends the locals as not being educated enough to vote Labor. She works on the mainland of course.

I feel like we're in a slow moving car crash and I can't figure out why they keep voting liberals in. I hoped Labor would bring out a concise plan of action for Tasmania's future after the vote of no confidence but then it felt like they didn't say anything to convince Tasmanians that they could actually handle the problem. In the end, I wonder if the state budget is so fucked by liberals that there is no feasible promises labor could make. Tassies don't want to hear that they've been run into the ground and there is no quick fix solution. The only quick fix solution to the problem liberals made is ironically only one that liberals can offer; sell off more of the land's resources.

2025-09-22 09:23:43 +0000 UTCA local counsellor of mine 20+ years ago said that the Greens are a cancer that will destroy labor if the ALP shared power with them. Labor was out of power for over 9 years because of Julia Gillard signing her Potsdam agreement with Bob Brown.

I wake up most days with a small hope that I get to see a news story about some crazy corruption conspiracy that is ultimately the stupidest funniest thing I have yet to see. (Classic examples include: Boat too big for bridge? Do we make boat smaller? Boat too big for pier? Same question... River too polluted and/or river not polluted? How's about we combine 'em? Not enough hospitals? Downsize the health department... No footy team? That's ok no stadium either... Running your budget into the ground? Lionel Hutz is more competent. No money down!
