Think I will dig out my copy of AoE after watching this. I also enjoyed playing Empire Earth which is similar in ways.

2015-02-02 20:40:30 +0000 UTCAoM is quite a different beast, but is very fun indeed!

2015-02-02 20:40:19 +0000 UTCNah, was never a fan of AoE3 either. Just lots of little things felt off.

2015-02-02 20:40:04 +0000 UTCI only played AoE2, and only a few times, and each time it was a multiplayer kick in the ass (not surprising, I'm more a Command & Conquer RTS type of gamer). Still, it was very fun to build stuff and train units and seeing ancient Egypt cooperating with the roman empire, even if it ended very badly. :) Also, watching LGR heals me up, thanks !

2015-02-02 18:33:11 +0000 UTCI haven't played AoE1 as much as it deserves, but I have played AoE2 and it's expansion The Conquerors a lot. I also enjoyed Age of Mythology, but not AoE3.

2015-02-02 16:43:48 +0000 UTCMy friends and I played this and AOE2 tons but I couldn't get into the sequels after that.

2015-02-01 18:41:46 +0000 UTCI didn't get into AOE much until the 3rd game, but I have since sought out the original 2 and all the official expansions. I love the heck out of all of them. I always considered AOE more of a "real-time" Heroes of Might and Magic than a Warcraft-Civilization type game. Though the Warcraft part definitely fits the bill as well. Very glad to see this in your collection of game reviews.

2015-02-01 02:58:37 +0000 UTCIt's definitely worth a shot if you like things a bit simpler!

2015-02-01 01:56:27 +0000 UTCHaha, yes indeed. So many units that way.

2015-02-01 01:56:09 +0000 UTCFinding the third-party expansions can be a bit challenging, at least if you want the boxes. But they're not exactly sought-after so they shouldn't be expensive if you CAN find em

2015-02-01 01:55:20 +0000 UTCNow you need to do one on AOE 2

2015-01-31 23:48:04 +0000 UTCI played the hell out of this whole series. I originally saw my first RTS at my cousin's house when he was playing the newly released Warcraft on DOS. I played the hell out of that series (and Starcraft) as well. When AoE was released it was a natural extension. I only played through AoE 3 once (or might not have completed it) because my PC at the time could barely run it. I was completely unaware there were third party "expansions" made for this game until an earlier video in which you mentioned them Clint. That was really cool. I wonder if they're hard to find. My PC collection has been slowly growing over the last two years and they'd be perfect for my collection. Great job with this review!
2015-01-31 21:35:03 +0000 UTCPepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza, pepperoni pizza... That pretty much summarises my time playing Age of Empires, lmao!

2015-01-31 21:14:59 +0000 UTCNever cared much for rts, the sheer simplicity of this one tho intrigues me.. Kinda like lemmings :D

2015-01-31 19:42:22 +0000 UTCFond memories of this one. Saturdays spent building up my massive Babylonian army and creating labyrinthine super structures to pass the test of time, only for my army to be converted to the church of Assyrian Wololo. Great review Clint.

2015-01-31 09:55:54 +0000 UTCI once dreamed that my elementary school put on a children's theater production of the first Age of Empires, back when I played the demo as a kid. Maybe it's the reason I ace my history classes! A shame Ensemble Studios closed, as they were the other big developer in my area (north Texas, where Gearbox rules mostly on its own). Great video, Clint! Definitely consider reviewing the sequels and their expansions.

2015-01-31 05:16:38 +0000 UTCMore awesome childhood memories for me. =') This was one of the first RTSes I really got into. I don't even know how many hours I sunk into this game back then. A good chunk of that time was spent making crazy scenarios i.e. battles with countless amounts of units, and a couple of more serious scenarios with actual goals, such as this: <a href="http://aoe.heavengames.com/dl-php/showfile.php?fileid=2128" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://aoe.heavengames.com/dl-php/showfile.php?fileid=2128</a> In short, WOLOLOOOOOOL!!!
