LGR Oddware - MindDrive Thought-Controlled Device

LGR Oddware - MindDrive Thought-Controlled Device

Comments

"This really pisses me off!"

LGR

Am really thinking of doing that. Me vs Tomato vs Grape vs Wet Paper Towel

LGR

Pale people with reddish hair in the sun? What next, tomatoes playing video games? Pscht

LGR

Haha

LGR

Tried, she refused to cooperate!

LGR

Thanks :D

LGR

Lols! Best comment "Why should humans have all the fun? So i got this cherry tomato straight out of the refrigerator and stuck it in there". Really loving the humor in the series right now. Spot on :)

Nice :D

StigDesign1

So..., did you put your weiner in it??

Colm

That is one clever tomato!

Christian Doyle

I wonder if the Kinect 2 has any apps planned besides the heart rate/blood pressure monitor. I am curious to see what its capable of.

Steven Friar

Hmm, reminds me of the OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator. Except way earlier. And not actually anything to do with the brain. Or logic. Careful with that sentient tomato though... It might control your mind.

Runefox

You should have let your cat try this!

Mona Halvorsen

I lost it when you gave it the middle finger. XD

Maximilien Noal

Mind control/thought technology available in the form of a game for the low price of 149,99$ ? Seriously, I feel sorry for anyone who fell for this. It sounds so obviously false, it's shameful. The 90's was a strange decade...

Sabrina

Somewhere somebody hooked that thing up to a part of their body that wasn't a finger, toe or tongue.

Michael Lamartina

With your mind.

Pandatective

Maybe GSR is actually spiritual? The spirit of the tomato is controlling it! 8D ...OK yeah, probably not. XD

Kris Asick

What? No review of the Sexy MindDrive? Nice curtains. You need to go outside and get some sun.

Michael Hogan

So that's how Twilight was written... :) (Sorry, I couldn't help it.)

Zem Hysong

When I saw you with the tomato I totally thought.... that you were gonna f'ing challenge it! Seriously - who would win in any of these games, you; or the tomato? Word, much <3 for LGR

Mathew k bentley

Oh what fun you were having with your "mind"? This device was a pure bunkum. What would the Duke say?

That phone jack is odd. Warning: don't plug your phone into it! You'll go crazy listening to your own thoughts. Reminds me of E-meters used by Scientologists... it lead some to believe that plants have feelings because tomatoes "scream when sliced."

Brad Boggess

That's a freaking sweet shirt too man.

Haha, it really is a wonderfully absurd notion.

LGR

doubt there's any significant voltage going through there

Jan3Sobieski

Word of caution.. don't hook anything to your skin that's directly connected with a power outlet.. well if you want to live

I lost it at "You can adjust the THOUGH WAVE SENSITIVITY...." rofl

Jan3Sobieski

Haha, well, that's okay though. We move something! lol

ReeseRiverson

Well, a lot of us do look like zombies, but at least we move our fingers and bodies a little bit sometimes :P

LGR

Yeah, I see that now after seeing it. lol But hey, I still enjoyed the episode, and I have to agree with you that this would have made for a bad future, would be kind of sad if kids today just sat around, looking like mindless zombies playing their video games.

ReeseRiverson

Also: I got the idea for the tomato since the New York Times reviewed this thing using a grape and wet paper tower with the same results :P http://www.nytimes.com/1996/10/01/science/mind-control-for-pc-s-i-think-not.html

LGR

As I said, this thing doesn't support any program that is not specifically made for it. So I couldn't try anything that it didn't come with! Would have to write some kind of memory-resident driver or something to get it running with games not from The Other 90% Technologies.

LGR

Oh god, what a horrible typo. lol! Duke Nukem 3D, not duck!

ReeseRiverson

Certainly was oddware alright. I was kind of hoping to see you trying Duck Nukem 3D, but I think Duke deserves a good mouse and keyboard instead, after seeing this. Hahaha

ReeseRiverson

The metal contacts are only on the inside of the sensor, not the outside. My hand wasn't touching anything but the plastic while the tomato was on there, and the tomato was held in place by a velcro strap. I was only holding it up so it'd be in the video frame, as before I was trying it with it just sitting on the table and it got the same result!

LGR

Just a hunch... but the metal contacts in that finger thing may actually be just that, metal contacts to form an electrical connection, which means any subtle electrical activity that comes into contact with the thing may have an effect, including your hand holding it while the tomato was in there. You should try the tomato thing again, but with the whole thing just dangling off of something non-conductive like a wooden chair. ...if you care to that is. Clearly even if the thing worked properly the software just didn't really cut it as anything worth playing. :P

Kris Asick

I did get some interesting responses when laughing really hard, moving around, or even talking. But it was mainly just making the worm bounce around on-screen or whatever.

LGR

Not next no, but maybe someday!

LGR

That whas odd lol. Next SidWinder Winder joyStick? :D

StigDesign1

I can relate to the "ten year old within me that wants this to work" - too bad it really didn't. :( Though I am curious to if you were sweating involuntarily or someone came up from behind and scared the crap out of you while wearing this, I wonder how it would affect the games - it would definitely pick up on a real galvanic skin response sensor. I wonder if this was made today if it would work better or it would be just as crappy as this was. I mean, lie detectors are based on galvanic responses too and those can be really, really faulty sometimes. Maybe it is best this never comes to be and we keep playing games with our eyes open and actually pressing buttons. :)

Lindsay Michelle

Probably would have flipped a few tables.

LGR

I know right? I counted at least 7 ways it blames the user for its problems.

LGR

Sounds good to me, happy birthday!

LGR

Dude, I would too. I'd like to have it compete against other veggies and fruits.

LGR

That was the oddest Oddware you have ever done. Shows how much of a chump someone would have been for buying that. They are blaming you for the fact that their crap didn't work.

Matt Cain

How would you have liked spending $150 and going home to.... this...?

Randall Strye

Of course! Plus, I'm...not...even.......tired...........*yawns* *falls on bed* *sleeps instantly*

Aidan Rayner

I would totally watch that cherry tomato do a complete playthrough.

Keith McCaffety

1 hour into my 30th birthday (welp) and we get a new video to enjoy is that a good omen ?

Darkireland

It's for the weak or something, right? :P

LGR

Thanks! Figured it was time to grab one after re-realizing how much I enjoy Daggerfall.

LGR

I didn't need sleep anyway!

Aidan Rayner

Killer tomatoes from outer space :O Nice tshirt though

wolfborn_metalhead

Nice, enjoy!

LGR

I was shocked as well... and yet totally accepting of this fact, seeing the prior results :D

LGR

I was literally just on a Oddware binge watching session on youtube then this video comes out :D

Gabriel Rodriguez

I laughed my ass off when you put the tomato on the sensor... and it actually worked.
