LGR - Physical Copies of Digital Games!

Rather early viewing, this will go up next Friday. Enjoy something quite different here on LGR :D

LGR - Physical Copies of Digital Games!

Comments

It would be interesting to talk to some publishers of these to find out! All of those reasons seem legit, but I'm sure it all comes down to "money"

LGR

To be honest, no clue because Steam is a fucking big thing over here.^^ I think everyone who still likes playing computergames when he is adault has steam (except for some who dislike Steam). And... (Wait I thought the Physical Sleeping Dogs Copy isn't that comon? Mhmmm) ...well I gues they sell it in europe, mhmmm, because our economy is much better so they maybe think it will sell allot better. Who knows.^^

I've since received it and played it for a bit. It does indeed play almost exactly like the Flash version, though it's heavily pixelated and while the game itself can be controlled entirely with the d-pad and buttons, you need to use the stylus to interact with the menus. About what I expected really. ;)

Kris Asick

Huh, well that sounds pretty awesome. Will check it out, thanks

LGR

Quite welcome, thanks for watching

LGR

Ahh, that it is. Such a rad album. Wish I could've gotten the vinyl copy.

LGR

I wish you luck on the continued search! Those personal holy grail kind of items are super rewarding to finally acquire

LGR

Interesting! Not often you physical Flash game releases. Another one I can think of is flOw for the PSP. At least I think it had a physical release... and I think it was originally Flash... maybe I have no idea, haha

LGR

Out of curiosity i was looking for indie physical distribution and found something called IndieBox. Apparently they ship "surprise" boxes with boxed indie games that contain the game in physical format and some extras like artbooks, posters, etc. You may want to check that out. I'm not sure about the "surprise" part myself though since i probably already have most of the games they're going to send (in digital format though).

Bad Sector

Thanks for the update!

The Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon soundtrack is avalible on spotify. Enjoy people!

I've been trying to hunt down the old physical copies of the old Exile games or their early 2000 updates called the Avernum series. Sometimes I see one or two of the games as part of those cheapo "best of win 98" jewel case CD's or "100 windows games" but I'm pretty sure they had a stand alone physical release.

Justin Laughlin

Actually, just a few days ago I was looking up DS games to buy so I could have stuff to play during thunderstorms while my main stuff is unplugged and the name "Desktop Tower Defense" came up. :o Intrigued because I played the heck out of the original Flash game, I went to eBay and sure enough found a copy of the DS version from a local seller for just a few bucks. Still in the mail so I haven't played it yet, but looking at the screenshots it seems to play pretty much exactly like the original Flash game, along with a few superfluous customization features, so that should be fun to have! :3

Kris Asick

My pleasure. It's one of those games I think are totally worth owning a physical copy of, especially for the soundtrack and poster.

Alyxx the Rat

Certainly did, must thank you again!

LGR

Saw that here as well

LGR

I remember being the one who tipped you off about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon being released over here. Made me a bit proud to see it in the video. ;)

The weirdest game I have seen on the shelves here in Germany was Angry Birds for the pc, it seemed to be in all the supermarkets 2 years ago. http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=angry+birds+pc&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aangry+birds+pc

4) Just don't care, wore dirty shirt since you can't smell through video :P

LGR

A few notes: 1) You either have extremely tight laundry wash cycles, or 2) You recorded the intro for this video and the previous video concurrently, or 3) You have multiples of the intro shirt. Please solve this unsolved mystery before Zombie Robert Stack kills us all.

Michael Hogan

Didn't know LoL had a physical copy, neat

LGR

Oddly enough, it rarely costs more than $3 to ship these here. And sometimes it's even been free, just depends on the seller!

LGR

They sell that at Target stores near me as well, hoping to grab it when it goes on sale.

LGR

I've been eying that pack myself!

LGR

Hehe, grass is always greener and all that.

LGR

Thanks! Am always nervous when uploading things that differ from the norm a bit.

LGR

The only physical release of a downloadable game I can think of is League of Legends. It's a free game, but if you buy the League of Legends "Collector's Pack" you get a bunch of free characters and skins and stuff. And APB, the game that died twice!

Aaron Alcorn

You mentioned that you got a lot of these games for $10 or less overseas...does that include shipping? Seems like that would add a heft premium if you're importing from the UK or Germany or whatever.

Brad Wheeler

I saw a copy of Framing Simulator 2013 at a Half Price Books, but I didn't get it at the time. When I went back a couple of weeks later to see if it was still there, it sadly was gone.

Marksider89

I just bought an indie 3 pack on xbox 360. It has Limbo, Trials HD, and Splosion man. I only paid $15 which comes out to only $5 a game. Totally worth it. Anyways really liked this video, probably one of my favs. Thanks for the early viewing.

Steven Friar

And I cry because I find a lot old vintage PC stuff (IBM and co) only in the US, the same for a lot of old 5.25 games etc. It's fun to see your frustration from EU only released games :p

Thomas Olivaux

Really enjoyed this video. Awesome stuff!
