Jojo 3 - Animation test!

Hi again!

Back to show the animation test for this cartoon which I made today. I took the shot of Dio walking up the beach as seen in the storyboards yesterday and then made a really rough looking dumpy malformed scribble stumble it's way along the scene as reference.

For the reference animation I keep things super loose so I can easily experiment with the movement, I like to think of the character animation as simple shapes like rectangles and circles and work from there. Also, I just use the transform and rotate tool to move the torso instead of redrawing a lot of the time to help keep some consistency in the form of the character as it moves.

Then when it comes to drawing the frames for the final step in animation, I mostly just use the rough animation as an armature type reference; the rough keys give me a basic idea of where the body and limbs would be and I don't have to stick too religiously to it.

As for the colouring at the end, it's just a load of paint bucket fill and experimenting with colour and stuff; with the colour in the animation, my main priority is to make sure the character stands out on screen whilst also looking like they belong in the environment.

So there's the lil test shot! I still have some bits to add and small fixes (speedwagon on the right in the clouds is meant to be looking at some flying birds and some subtle cloud movement would be nice too)

I am doing some background work and a bit more animation for the rest of the week so will keep you all updated on that.
