This episode really tested Mulder and Scully's relationship; faced with threat, anger and death! Luckily they made it through and stronger than ever. I loved this episode, I liked that it was all close quarters and we got to see how the characters handle a high intense situation. The government swoop in yet again though...'threat contained'??

Regarding the heat, it was already established early on that the heating system was going haywire. The man said to his 'assistant' which I believe to be his wife said that it's 40 degrees below outside, pointing out that it's better inside in spite of the heat. The all were sweating, infected or not. It is a great way to misdirect the audience though, lol.

2025-10-03 22:45:33 +0000 UTCThis was a straight up homage to John Carpenter's "The Thing" and is one my favorite episodes of the whole series. They got so many things eerily accurate and even a lot of the background stuff inside would have me thinking, "Whoa...". I hadn't read the reviews on IMDb, so decided to check them out. The majority were very favorable, but of course you had the curmudgeons complaining and saying it was a word for word, scene by scene exact duplicate. HUH? You know why it looked so good smarty pants people? Graeme Murray was the art director for this episode (and many other episodes) and was also the set director for "The Thing". Open the windows, lie in the sun, take your significant other out to dinner and a movie. Hopefully it's "The Thing" and will jar your memory.
