Fringe Reaction 5x06

Please use one of the links at the bottom of this post to watch this video, thank you:

Hello All!

Peter nooooo! He's transforming, I'm scared! Walter's nerves about becoming the man he wasn't a fan off was a touching scene. I hope Peter realises how much he helped his Dad to lock in and become a better version of himself, it wasn't just the parts removed from his brain. Nothing is ever simple!

Much love

Dakara x

Yeah, totally agree on your analysis, this season is great at showcasing the impact of parenthood in all of its facets and how it shapes both child and parent for the rest of their lives and Peter at this point o is caught in that vicious cycle. I mean to me the plot of each season including 5 was always just a setting created to explore the characters and the relationship between them (like the best shows do), the plot never came before character exploration at any point in the show. I personally found the mysterious aspect of the observers their strongest suit in earlier seasons so i was a little bit afraid when i realized that they were goin to explore them so in depth in this season because you never know what can happen when you pull the curtain on such obscure figures but man the stuff they delve into with them this season are pretty captivating and a very interesting reflection of our modern society today much more so even than when this season aired in 2012/2013 because now they don’t really feel like a distant possibility for us but a scary probability.

I'm kinda floored by the generational patterns explored in this season. How the way our parents equipped us (or not) to deal with difficult emotions influence who we become. How actions of generations before become our actions. Walter/Walternate is mirrored in Peter and Peter is mirrored in the brief glimpse we had of Etta. Walternate focusing on revenge and isolating himself from Elizabeth vs Peter lying to Olivia and literally allowing his grief to consume who he is. It's interesting to see how terrified Walter is at the thought of losing his emotional side while Peter actively chooses it. I might not care about the Observers and the plan that much but I'm loving everything else!

This show is good at feeling a lot shorter than it actually is
