Weekly Video Production Report - April 3rd, 2023

Hey folks, I know I've been a bit behind on these public posts, so I thought I'd catch things up a bit with current video production. Obviously, I've been pretty busy the past few weeks on finally getting our first Top 15 - Best Morrowind Mods of 2022 video out there (along with our graphics list for 2023). That project took a lot longer than I had originally anticipated, it was supposed to be released in August of 2022, but after I caught covid in July, I just didn't have the energy and production stalled.
Now that that's been released, we do have a follow-up second part to that video, covering the top 15 mods of specifically July-December of 2022, and with any luck, we should have that out in May.
But anyway, this week is going to be a bit slow in terms of new video releases. Not only do I need a little bit of a break after spending dozens of hours working on that first top 15 video, but I also need to focus on finally finishing the Embers of Empire trailer for Tamriel Rebuilt. I've been informed by the TR team that they're planning to release a major bug fix expansion in the next few weeks, and they'd like the EoE trailer to coincide with that release.
So, the priority this week is going to be the Embers of Empire trailer above all else, but that doesn't mean I'll be idling on other video production and projects. We still have a few Mod of the Day showcases that we can, ostensibly, air this week, as well as some preliminary planning and script-writing that we'll be doing for some longer form videos.
With that said, here's a look at a potential schedule for this week:
Channel Schedule for April 3rd-9th
Mod of the Day Showcases:
Note: We have no specific dates for any of these Mod of the Day showcases, I'll try and get them out in a timely manner, but again, the priority this week is the Embers of Empire trailer.
- The Plumed Mountain by ProfArmitage (Video Recording Complete, Currently Writing Script) - This dungeon & adventure mod inspired by the modules of D&D originally escaped my notice when it was released for the 2020 Modathon, but it has been on my to-showcase list for a while, and I finally got around to recording the video footage for it last week. With any luck, we should have this one out by Wednesday (April 5th).
- OAAB - Brother Juniper's Twin Lamps by Lucevar (Video Recording Complete, Currently Writing Script) - This showcase was originally delayed for the 2023 Winter Modjam, and then for the Top 15 video, but now that both projects are complete, I'm free to focus on wrapping up the script and editing the video together. Might have this one out possibly on Friday/Saturday (April 7th/8th).
- Vennin's Abernanit Overhaul by Vennin (Video Recording in Progress) - A very small, but underrated dungeon overhaul mod, this should be a pretty simple and easy showcase, which is ideal since, again, the priority this week is Embers of Empire. Possibly a Sunday/Thursday release (April 9th/6th).
Other Videos in Production:
- NOD - NPC Outfit Diversity by Lucevar (50% Recorded) - This showcase is still chugging along, and with 60 recorded video clips, it's probably going to be a long one. I still need more footage though, and given the widespread nature of NPC Outfit Diversity, it'll probably be another couple of weeks before it's ready to air.
- Let's Mod Morrowind EP5 - Building an Egg Mine (45% Recorded) - The first hour and a half of our rebooted mod making tutorial series has been recorded, including tutorial sections on the CSSE, Tamriel Data, and OAAB Data, as well as constructing the outline for a new interior cell with the Kwama cavern tileset.
There's still quite a bit we need to cover though, the goal for this video is to show the construction of a free-form Kwama cavern environment from start to finish, including play-testing, so the final length will probably be somewhere in the 3-4 hour range.
I'm planning to get this out in the next couple of weeks, but obviously, free-form cavern interiors tend to get quite large (and quite detailed), so fingers crossed on that. - Top 20 - Best Inventory Management and Convenience Mods - Inspired by Click Caps to Drop, this project turned into a major endeavor to track down the best convenience, quality-of-life, and item management mods for Morrowind.
The goal of this video is to provide you with 20 mods that will not only make managing your inventory a lot easier, but will also minimize the amount of time you spend in the inventory screen, so you can spend more time doing actual gameplay, and less time baffing about a menu.
Currently, the video outline is complete, along with the first third of the script. I was originally, somewhat ambitiously, planning to have this out by April 9th, but with Embers of Empire, I've decided to push for April 16th instead.
Anyway, that's all for now, once we have the Embers of Empire trailer out, we'll be able to focus on additional video production, so stay tuned for that in the coming weeks.
And in the meantime, as always, stay safe, and happy modding!
