Why Are Mormons?

I finally give my brief history of Mormonism. This video was years in the making. Heck, production was months in the making. Much of it was filmed in April!

I'm glad y'all finally get to see it. Thank you for your continued support.

Why Are Mormons?

Comments

I watched it earlier today and thought it was excellent on the actual historical events and the people who animated them versus the theology and social organization outside of polygamy. I have known many Mormons over the years, too, especially when I lived in California in the late 70's and early 80's, so I agree with your suggestion that they are often very nice competent people. Thanks!

The Mormons were definitely industrious and for it's members it is a safe, structured way of life. I was a member for 7 years and eventually found it too patriarchal not a good fit for me. But I respect the people who belong and believe. I have known many members, some active and some inactive. I'm so glad to live in the US in the 21st century with all of our rights & freedoms. It is "a wild story.". I think sometimes good can come from bad. Hopefully that's the story with the current political unrest in our country.

If you're not already familiar you might want to look up Jimmy Snow. He's an ex Mormon and now an Atheist. He has his own channel and is also the executive producer of The Line... The Line is the best channel for critical thinking... Full disclosure: I am also financially supporting The Line on Patreon.

Mormons vs. Iowans would be an insane match-up for the title of "Nicest People in the US."

You did! I'm the guy that commented on the video how well researched the video was. Amazing work as always, Mr Beat

I have yet to see it, but I really want to.

Mr. Beat

We almost drove up there for this video but got tired. Another cool place that I should have mentioned. Thanks for bringing it up!

Mr. Beat

I hope I got it all right!

We saw a handcart as you described at the Oregon/California Trail Museum in Caspar, Wyoming, as well. I haven't been to the Mormon Trail Center in Omaha, but I shall make it a goal to visit the next time I'm up there. Thanks for the kind words!

Mr. Beat

Excellent episode! Many years ago my husband and I had a few hours to kill in Omaha,NE and we visited the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters. It was really interesting, especially seeing real handcarts and imagining all these families basically walking across the country. I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Omaha looking for something to do. And you are correct; in general I've found that Mormons are exceptionally nice people.

Damn, as an exmormon, I can't wait to watch your take on the Mormon church's crazy history. Decided to support you here on Patreon just to check it out ASAP.

My oldest son and his family recently moved to northern, MO, not far from Spring Hill - Adam-ondi-Ahman. Adam-ondi-Ahman (/ˈæd.əm ˈɑːn.daɪ ˈɑː.mən/, sometimes clipped to Diahman) is a historic site in Daviess County, Missouri, about five miles south of Jameson. It is located along the east bluffs above the Grand River. According to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is the site where Adam and Eve lived after being expelled from the Garden of Eden. They are LDS.

The Book of Mormon stopped by Champaign, and it was hilarious; the team finished the performance tours at SLC.
