I really liked the crash course format. It was great to see how you managed to light the video without the specific gear. It will be great if you can takes us through backlight and side light when photographing a person outdoors. Regards

What do you mean, why doesn't it work?🫣
Unfortunately I don't really have much of an option. Patreon's internal video hosting only supports 1080p, which is fine for many things, but for tutorials the screenrecordings end up mildly blurry, so I've been using Vimeo to host the full resolution 4k videos.👀

Vimeo was the worst option :( I can’t watch anything at all :(

Thanks Rob, happy to hear that the lighting was acceptable haha! Mhmm yesss, when shooting indoors I've also experienced that using a flash that way can be quite effective.
And yes, I like to refer to some still from the film at times, they're beautiful!

Haha no worries! Since about a year now I've been shooting with the A7IV, which I believe has improved IBIS over the A7III. Additionally I have the IBIS set to full power - so the physical IBIS plus the digital IBIS and when necessary (not often) I will also apply warp stabiliser in Premiere Pro.
The A7III is a little less stable so I used warp stabiliser in post more frequently.
Though I do overall consider my hands relatively steady - not super steady, I know some people who are waaay steadier than me, but I think my hands are alright. This depends on the environment though - I get a little shaky in the cold hahah.

This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you deal with camera shake in your videos when you're shooting with the A7? Is it just the IBIS? Do you have super steady hands? 😂 Excellent quality, as always! TIA!

Great lesson. The lighting on you actually looked good, and showed off your famous fish jumper well. The one thing I'd add about flash lighting (which I rarely use anymore except for macro) is that bouncing the flash off a light colored ceiling is generally much more flattering than direct frontal lighting. And anyone who hasn't seen "Days of Heaven" should definitely do so; after almost 50 years, it remains one of the prettiest movies ever.
