INTEMPERANCE VIII - Chapter 24, They Just Won't Let You Be

This is a progression chapter, skipping ahead just a bit and speaking about recent events in the past tense. Yami has agreed to be the new live-in nanny for the Kingsley family. Did she just sell her soul, she is forced to wonder. Illustrations will follow shortly. Don't open the illustrations if you do not want to see them. As always, let me know how I'm doing.

Thank you. I do enjoy introducing new characters.

Dude. That was fantastic; a lot of background, some good 'slice of life', and a solid look at how Yami is going to live with the Kingsleys.

Your chapters keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work!!!

Nobody else has reported this so it must be something on your end. I'm not sure what, however. I'm glad you were at least able to get it through the email.

Al Steiner

Al, for some reason, the PDF does not come up in the Patreon app. I can read it from the email. your previous postings are fine.

Bob Noone

Will fix, thanks.

"Fort Moore, Georgia" -> according to Wikipedia, "Fort Moore" is the current name for the formerly-named Fort Benning, the change occurring on 11 May 2023.

Good chapter. I can't help but wonder why the movers were necessary. Why didn't Jake, Sean, Westy, maybe Nerdly just rent a truck and move Yami's meager possessions themselves? It surely wouldn't have taken long. I guess when you're a rich rock star "with money falling out of your asshole," you don't move shit. And I guess the paparazzi attention was inevitable, anyway. It just seems like this would have been a fairly easy way to avoid bringing strangers INTO the Kingsley home, something I would think they'd try to avoid whenever possible. Also, the timeline for Yami and her forced return to India didn't really make sense to me. Once Kira starts kindergarten, childcare expenses would be dramatically reduced. After-school childcare for a 5+ year old is incredibly less expensive than preschool, full-day childcare. Many YMCAs, boys/girls clubs, etc. provide either on-site care or transportation to a second site. (And, given Dr. Niven's fondness for Yami, I can't believe she wouldn't have granted her an afternoon "lunch break" if she did need to move Kira from one location to another.) I'm glad she thought things would get worse -- as it's worked out for both her and the Kingsleys -- but I don't think that's realistic.

Thanks for chapter.

For the first time ever, I decided to try and listen to a chapter whilst in the car. Listening to this via text to speech is hilarious. Thanks for another great chapter.
