And, again, please don't read too much into cameo appearances by past characters. The one in this chapter is meant to convey nothing more sinister than Jake's character. Not complaining per se, but where is the pickup in the last no VII little cliffhanger? You know Laura and Celia, all smiles, joining hands and Pauline's phone ringing off the hook the next day. Great writing but sometimes a bit inconsistent

When they take their chartered flight from Cleveland to Pittsburgh, the narration says “the seven of them” but by my count it’s eight: the five band members, Greg Gahn, Jim the paramedic, and Celia.
