Discord Help from Sableram1 (Admin)

Hey everybody, It's Sableram1 speaking, I set up the discord. I've seen a lot of people having trouble with discord or not understanding what it is and I wanted to help everyone out. Janet's been kind enough to post this for me to Patreon so everyone can see.

First thing's first Discord is a chat app, with both text and voice chat, and you can post images as well. It functions similarly to one big ol group text with extra features. It's a good way to allow everyone to just chat and be friendly in a much better format than the Patreon community page.

I've also seen some people say that they got in and they can't write or message, there's 2 potential causes for this, both fairly easy fixes.

1st of all, The server is set up to prevent just anyone from joining as it's Patreon exclusive. This means you need to Link your Patreon account to your discord, here's how you do that

NOTE*This needs to be done on a computer/desktop site, Patreon app/mobile doesn't have this setting, there's nothing we can do about that unfortunately

1)If you don't have one, create your discord account on the discord website, it's very straightforward, then log in to it

2)Open Patreon

3)Hover over your profile in the top right

4)Click on "My Profile Settings"

5)Click Apps

6) you should see discord and to the right a button that says "connect".Click it

7)A little window should pop up with a button that says "Authorize". Click it

You're all set now. The bot should quickly add you to the server's list so you can actually speak.

2nd potential cause, on the left side there should be a list of Channels starting with # like for example, on mobile you may need to swipe right to see this. Click on any channel under "General" and you can talk there, the general chat should be the default room now, sorry about that.
