You're totally rightβBatgirl is such an interesting character, and her stories have a lot of potential for a great movie or TV series. There are actually a couple of reasons why a Batgirl project hasn't fully taken off yet, despite interest. One key reason is that DC and Warner Bros. have had a bit of a chaotic approach to their cinematic universe, especially with changes in leadership and direction. For example, a Batgirl movie was actually filmed with Leslie Grace in the lead role, but it was unfortunately canceled during post-production in 2022 as part of a restructuring at Warner Bros. Discovery. It was a huge disappointment, especially since there was a lot of excitement around it, and the film was pretty much done! Another factor is that Batgirl's history is somewhat tied to the larger Batman mythos. With the ongoing and ever-changing portrayals of Batman, from Ben Affleck's version in the DCEU to Robert Pattinson's more recent The Batman, it could be tricky to give Batgirl her own space without it feeling tied to whatever direction Batman is taking. But with the right creative approach, there's definitely room for a solo Batgirl story. With all the superhero content coming out these days, though, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Batgirl pop up in some form eventually. The character's had a few different iterations, with Barbara Gordon being the most iconic, but also characters like Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown taking on the Batgirl mantle, so there are a lot of angles to explore.
