June 2025 Channel Update – The Paint Has Dried, Time To Deliver Packages

Hope you’ve been well! The summer months are beginning, the weather is getting nice and warm. Perfect time to stay inside and play lots of video games!!!!!!!!!!!

Finished Stuff

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: Probably my favourite 2025 release so far! Addictive combat, great music, compelling narrative – it’s a breath of fresh air and the kind of game that gets me loving video games a little more. People are Very Normal about their preferred ending which is... at least a sign it’s a story that gets people passionate! I expect this will have a strong showing at all the year-end awards.

First looks:

Old Skies: The latest point & click adventure from Wadjet Eye Games set in a world where time travelling is a stable (?), legal, and commercialized technology. I don’t think I’ve seen a time travel story that focuses on these aspects before so it’s been interesting to explore. Be warned there’s a tinny/sibilance issue with the dialogue audio mix that might bother those with sensitive ears.

to a T: New game from the creator of Katamari Damacy about a teenager eternally stuck in a T-pose. It’s very wholesome and even comes with its own anime opening song! I didn’t even catch on at first but this game does a great job of showcasing what it’s like to live with a disability without showing a real one.  The gameplay is somewhat repetitive though, and QTEs being finicky to trigger completion status for made the experience a little clunky.

The Alters (full release): The Death Stranding + Fallout Shelter game that we checked out last year. I thought the script was on the iffier side, perhaps due to the language barrier with Polish devs, but the survival/crafting parts are addicting + the overall concept of dealing with AU versions of yourself is so unique that I’m still curious to learn more about. However it’s a 30+ hour game and I don’t have very many 30 hours to go around :’)

Current Stuff

DELTARUNE Ch 3 & 4: Finally returning almost four years after Chapter 2! I’m in Chapter 4 now and will check out the Snowgrave/Weird routes after too. The staggered release schedule isn’t the greatest but the story is the top-tier Toby Fox brand of endearing and hilarious as always.

Upcoming Stuff

With Expedition 33 wrapped up I’ll be shifting gears to Death Stranding 2 next. I’ll be going physical so expect videos after the official release date (June 26) and not in the digital early access period.

DS2 and DELTARUNE should keep me preoccupied for the next bit. I’ll figure out what’s next as slots free up. I don’t think there’s much releasing over the summer, so may be a good time to catch up on some previous/outstanding games!

That said, overall I’ve been feeling stretched thin lately – Expedition 33 turned out to be a bigger commitment than expected, and it came out immediately after I wrapped up BG3 too, so I didn’t get a chance to slow down in between. I read the other day that 40-50+ new games come out on Steam every day nowadays? Of course not every game is my cup of tea, but it really put into perspective that it’s never going to be possible for me to get to everything I’m interested in even if I step on the gas 120% of the time 😟...

I’m doing okay overall though! Just trying to learn how to pace myself better for the long haul. You would think I have a great handle on all this by now, but I’m incredibly horrible at knowing my limits and delude myself nearly every time lol.
