July 2024 Channel Update – Endless Summer Heat
Added 2024-07-25 21:16:09 +0000 UTCHello!!
Hope you are doing spectacular in this summery season (winter for South Hem folks)!
I want to say it’s been a good July for me but oh, boy, IRL stuff has been really kicking my butt. My work has been crazy, I made a mistake with my taxes that needs me to write letters and fill out 5 different forms to fix 🙃🙃 and in general it feels like everyone around me wants something from me....... All that plus the heat has really been putting a damper on things. I am hopeful this’ll clear up soon I can focus more on the vidjas 😭
TL;DR
Finished: Metal Gear Solid 2, Alan Wake II Night Springs, Hades II (for now)
Ongoing: 1000xRESIST, Baldur’s Gate 3
Next Up: Nobody Wants to Die, Metal Gear Solid 3 soon-ish hopefully
Finished Stuff
Metal Gear Solid 2: Not much I didn’t already cover last update - fun times with themes that are eerily still relevant today, but really wish the controls were modernized. I’m def interested to get to 3, and maybe check out the Delta remake whenever it comes out too.
Alan Wake II Night Springs DLC: It’s a fun return to AW2, but feels somewhat undercooked with the short length. The last episode focusing on Shawn Ashmore’s character made me very curious about how Quantum Break fits into the Remedyverse though. I’m hoping I can slip that in some time (before the next AW2 DLC…?)
Stray Gods: Orpheus DLC: Similar situation to Night Springs with a undercooked-feeling DLC. What’s here is nice but the one-hour runtime doesn't give much room for my boy Orpheus to work with. There are apparently different songs dependent on your base game choices though, which is nice.
Hades II early access (for now): I’ve played about ~20 runs and it’s good ol’ Hades – high quality gameplay + engaging roguelite progression-based story. I’ve exhausted the major gameplay objectives for the moment but I think I’ll be back when a bigger narrative patch drops.
Current Stuff
1000xRESIST: You know how there are let’s plays that are like “Greek Mythology PhD Plays Hades And Gives 5000 Esoteric Facts About Random Greek Things”? This game kind of makes me feel a bit like that lool.
This game is clearly on a budget with the VN-style presentation but they do so much with what they have. The worldbuilding has been ridiculously engaging, and the story just keeps pushing past expectations. To be honest though - the reasons why I feel close to it also makes it difficult for me to commentate on... But anyway, even removing the real world context surrounding it (if that was somehow possible) it’s still a wonderful, heartfelt gem of a sci-fi story. Just two more chapters/one video until the end!
Baldur’s Gate 3: It’s here! I don’t think I really need to say too much about this 🤣 I’ve put 10+ hours into this but I still feel like I only have a basic grasp of the available systems and possibility space. But I also don’t feel like a player needs to understand the mechanisms to a T to enjoy it, and so enjoying it I have been. Story-wise: because all the D&D lore stuff is pre-existing it feels like I just got dropped in here with not much fanfare, but I’ve been enjoying reading the in-game stuff to “suss out” how Faerun/the Forgotten Realms works.
Upcoming Stuff
My focus atm is to keep BG3 running at a Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat schedule with minimal interruption. After 1000xRESIST wraps up, I’ll probably look around for some smaller things (hearing good things about Nobody Wants To Die), and of course, getting back to MGS3. Honestly I’ve been so swamped I haven’t looked into new releases much, so let me know if there's anything on your radar that should be on mine too!
Please feel free to share any suggestions/questions you have in the comments. Appreciate your support as always, and I’ll catch you in the next one 🍸

1 has the better story imo, but it will definitely be a huge commitment

2024-08-25 19:25:51 +0000 UTCGreat! Again, 1 is great but with far more puzzles than story. 2 is much easier to handle… with most of the hardest puzzles in the DLC. I can’t wait to see you play it when you decide to!

2024-08-13 22:39:16 +0000 UTCYup this is one that's been recommended to me before - I was gonna first look 2 when it came out but was told it could have spoilers for 1, so skipped out on it. Maybe when a good timing presents itself!

2024-08-13 22:33:07 +0000 UTCHey Welonz, I have a great game suggestion for you! I think you would love it, even if it is a puzzle game… the Talos Principle 2. Yeah this is sort of a Red Dead situation, but different in that you can just skip the first one. This game came out last year, and whereas 1 is mainly focused on the puzzles — 2 is way, way more focused on story, character and philosophy, an aspect that I genuinely believe would be right up your alley. Most of the puzzles are not too hard either! You’re retaught how most of the mechanics of them work right in the beginning, and all puzzles can be solved without a time limit and thus without any kind of pressure. There are also plenty of opportunities to also bypass puzzles if need be, and after the tutorial section — there is a huge section at the beginning of the game with almost no puzzles at all. It really IS about the story, I promise. Uh, yeah. Anyway, I would easily recommend the Talos Principle 2. Let me know what you think.

2024-08-11 20:17:49 +0000 UTCThanks for the great 1000xResist playthrough! That game is a real gem, even though it felt like it was really hard for you to get through it sometimes. Not in a bad way. But rather because it was really emotional and dense and close to home for you. If you feel like you want a video game vacation instead, I'd recommend Dungeons of Hinterberg. Mostly a chill little Zelda-like in Austria, but it has some nice writing and social aspects too. Sort of reminds me of Life is Strange 3 a bit.

2024-07-30 21:48:28 +0000 UTCIt's a remaster, just one that goes so far into remaking every assets that most call it a remake. But it's been confirmed that anything not visual isn't being touched. It's really only graphical, so the core MGS3 experience is the same. It's not a Capcom style remake, if that's what you were wondering

2024-07-29 02:14:15 +0000 UTCIf it's just a graphical overhaul I would expect that to be more of a remaster. Not sure how much I trust Konami to do a good job with a remake!

2024-07-28 12:03:37 +0000 UTCI'm really enjoying the BG3 play through obviously, but I'm totally hooked on 1000XRESIST. This game has been so good to watch you play for a number of reasons and I really appreciate you bringing it to us, even though, at times, it may make you feel a little uneasy. Wonderful as always and thank you for taking us along for the ride.

2024-07-27 13:27:27 +0000 UTCDon't feel bad to take breaks when you don't fell good and we all know that gouvernement administration is a pain. Wish you the best. I really love you're baldur gate 3 playthrough. I didn't know anything about D&D either but I heard a lot about the game so I'm glad to discover it through your video. I'm exited to see you play MGS3 too:) Also as a suggestion I do believe you could enjoy the Batman Arkham series they are well written, with good characters and stories(and fun gameplay). Most of all I hope you can keep having fun making your videos:)

2024-07-26 06:59:28 +0000 UTCYeesh, I hope thing ease up for you soon. ❤️ I knew people were clamoring for Baldur's Gate 3, but the response was wild! Your first video had 500+ comments after a couple of days! I can see why though. It's one of the most true RPGs I've seen as far as player freedom goes, with a AAA presentation on top of that. Very impressive. I feel like a kindred spirit in that I know almost nothing about D&D. 1000xResist has blown me away. On first impression, I honestly wasn't expecting much. But it's a really smart and unique sci-fi story, along with all the real-world parallels. It's been on my mind all the time. I'm equally dreading and looking forward to the end.

2024-07-26 03:23:14 +0000 UTCI hope things calm down in your real life. I'v never played D&D, so your BG3 play through is a nice introduction. I've really been enjoying it.

2024-07-26 03:00:50 +0000 UTCAnimal Well would be cool. Came out in May. Could be compared to tunic, not gameplay wise but the puzzles. Basically a Metroidvania without combat.

2024-07-26 02:27:50 +0000 UTCGiving the fact that you have quite heavily narrative games (both with 1000xResist and BG3), can I suggest more lightweight games, even not for your channel, but just for you to play for yourself as the perfect opportunity for the rest your busy mind needs. There's a cool company named Devcats which created a whole bunch of cute and useful games about cats ("Cats Loves Boxes", "A Building Full of Cats", "A Castle Full of Cats", "Sudocats", "Zodiacats", etc). It's mostly puzzle games with very little narrative, which is why they will be hard to translate for letsplay, imo. But I guarantee that you'll be charmed by featured cats in these games, and, maybe, also will learn some awesome facts about cats. They're all very short games, like, under hour or so. Good luck with taxes! Summer will be over soon, but bureaucracies haunt us all year lol You're doing great work with BG3!

2024-07-26 01:42:08 +0000 UTCI'm loving your BG3 playthrought too. And don't worry about the pre-existing lore of D&D, you don't need it to fully understand and/or enjoy the game, it just is the icing on top; and the mechanics will be coming ontime as you try new things and experiment (wich is quite satisfactory). Keep up the great work but try not to stress too much xD

2024-07-25 21:50:06 +0000 UTCI just want to say you’re doing great in your BG3 playthrough, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it! 1000xRESIST piqued my interest as well, but I had to stop watching it to avoid spoilers. I will definitely play it someday and watch your LP.

2024-07-25 21:36:34 +0000 UTCWouldn't it be preferable to wait for the MGS3 "Remake" since it's only a graphical overhaul ? Also, you might wanna look at the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster coming in September. It's a mouthful but it's basically a full-on remake of the first Dead Rising. That series is basically its own genre in itself, I don't think anyone ever tried to reproduce its unique game design.

2024-07-25 21:32:01 +0000 UTCGreat update! enjoying BG3 a lot. and yeah, I'm not a summer person. very ready for fall and livable temperatures!
