October 2022 Channel Update – Good Title Not Found

It felt like we were in a bit of a drought but with October rolling around the release schedule is getting packed again! It’s weird but I think I actually feel more reinvigorated with being busier lol. That, or maybe it’s because my IRL work has been letting up a little too, finally…!
TL;DR
- Finished: SCORN
- Ongoing: Dragon Age: Origins, A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Upcoming: New Tales From Borderlands, God of War: Ragnarok
Finished Since Last Update
SCORN (6 parts): A dialogue-less, textless first-person adventure with grotesque yet intriguing imagery. I really liked that it’s the type of horror that makes me uncomfortable but doesn’t rely on loud sounds or jumpscares. The visuals & atmosphere already made it worth it for me but more gameplay-oriented gamers could be put off by the rudimentary shooting mechanics and puzzles.
Progress on Current Stuff
Dragon Age: Origins: We’re inching closer to the end, slowly! I am guestimating I’m about 60-70% in!?
A Plague Tale: Requiem: A story of a brother and sister in times of the rat plague. The first game was a pleasant surprise, and as far as I can see the sequel only expands on that feeling. Really enjoying the continuation to Amicia & Hugo’s story, although there are some noticeable performance issues (stutters) on PC. At the moment I’m at Chapter 4 of 15.
Upcoming Stuff
I’m gonna see if I can squeeze in New Tales From the Borderlands sometime before God of War - haven’t heard much hype on it but the reviews don’t seem bad. I really liked the first one and I hope the new one can capture some of what made the first so memorable!
I know it’s spooky October and there hasn’t been too much scary stuff on the channel aside from SCORN 😔 the releases in the coming months will more than make up for it though, I think! I don’t mind saying now that I’ve been paying attention to all of these:
- November: The Devil In Me
- December: The Callisto Protocol
- January: Dead Space (Remake)
Of course there’s always the logistics part of it (“how many games can I play while also doing 2 big games”) but I will try my best to Figure It Out…! (PS. Somebody for the Q&A asked if I have plans for Halloween, I am sorry the video is taking forever but here’s your answer lol.)
Regarding the FF7 conundrum last post: I’m still not 100% set on what to do, but some of you have brought up that I’d likely be overextending (as usual) by trying to take on 50000 things and I can’t disagree lol. For now I’ll shelve this idea & revisit closer to when I finish Dragon Age, but squeezing in OG FF7 before mid-December just doesn't seem realistically possible. I did find a clip of director Yoshinori Kitase talking about how CCR was greenlit in the middle of development for the first FF7R (Jpn audio w/ Chi subtitles) so this release order could just all be part of The Plan and I am needlessly worrying about nothing 🤷
(This doesn’t mean I won’t ever play OG FF7 – I know many have expressed interest in it! But currently I’m wondering about it specifically in the context of before CCR coming out. If it’s something people reeally want to see I wouldn’t mind going back to it after the whole remake series is done.)
I wish there was time for more - even with all the stuff mentioned here there are still so many things I'm interested in slipping through the cracks. Here's hoping some extra time magically appears for me 😭

Hey, thanks for the reply! I know there's a lot of great games out there, appreciate the updates. Yeah, I've heard the same about the Life is Strange remaster. I wasn't following your channel until recently, but I played Life is Strange around when it first released and just finished up a replay of the original version as well as watched your first playthrough. I definitely had some different (but still good!) reactions and thoughts about the game several years later, so I'm glad to hear it's something you're considering at whatever time is most convenient - maybe at 100k subscribers? :D Or perhaps in 3 more years it could be like a second fridge video :p Just to take another moment since I haven't done it yet, I wanted to thank you for the content you've put out. You bring a lot of attention and care and engagement to your let's plays and I appreciate your perspective both on games that I'm familiar with and games that I'm not. It's no exaggeration that I feel like I've gained a deeper understanding of narrative and design by watching you play - it's enriched my understanding of games both individually and collectively. I'll definitely make a note on that! The Exacation... - I've heard good things about this but no specific plans atm. Life is Strange - I did consider this when the remaster released earlier this year but unfortunately it wasn't very well received. I agree it's an important part of the channel and I feel like my perspectives on many things could've changed over the years too - would like to if a good opportunity comes up again...!

But I don't hate it, I just don't care that much... And prefer not to have it on my pizza. I prefer Italian style Pizzas... So I'm sticking to that. :)

And glad to hear you're taking a 'breather' regarding FF7 and only taking on 49999 things at once! Take care of yourself... I barely have spare time to watch your videos. 2022-10-22 20:02:08 +0000 UTCI’ve only performed a cursory skim of reviews, yet it sounds like Gearbox’s writing and character development for 'New Tales of the Borderlands' is a far cry from Telltale’s work — lots of parallels to Borderlands 3 which I personally thought was rough to wade through. Of course your mileage may vary. Does Atlas take issue with people 'let’s playing' their titles? If not, Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal (now on PC) could be a great narrative fit for the channel. Super lengthy though.
