In the early evening, just before the sun dipped below the horizon, Akane Kurokawa wore a form-fitting sports bra paired with tight running leggings. She jogged along her usual riverside route, the golden sunlight reflecting off the water in sparkling glimmers. The sky was still bright, but the shadows of trees began to stretch long across the path.
The sound of her running shoes striking the pavement was steady, mingling with a gentle breeze and the faint calls of evening insects. Everything seemed normal… yet a strange feeling prickled at her spine, as if unseen eyes were watching her from a distance.
Before she could react, a strong figure grabbed her from behind. A firm arm clamped tightly around her, leaving her nearly immobile. Her earphones were yanked away, and her attempted cry was instantly muffled.
Akane’s heart pounded fiercely. The freedom she had felt while running vanished, replaced by the dragging sounds and pulling force that carried her into the shadows of danger—and in that moment, she realized this was a real abduction.
