0072 — Scratchboard from "Pete's Umbrage, pt 3"

Todd's urine had a different sound when knocking at the door of the magical underworld this time. Why? Also, the purist will note that Rickenbacker basses and guitars are only made in the USA, meaning that Lyle has been playing a forgery all these years. Is Téodor's Rickenbacker-type guitar a forgery as well? Or did he live in poverty for five years after putting it on a credit card? Because Téodor always lives in poverty, this answer cannot be derived from the provided material.

Okay it's late enough I doubt anyone will see this, but I came up with an answer to the genuine vs forgery Ric question: Lyle's Ric is real, because Lyle seems like the type that would beg/borrow/steal to get a real Ric, even if second-hand, and have the technical knowledge of equipment to ascertain its genuineness; but his output jack is cheap aftermarket because he gets drunk and abuses his bass. Teodor, on the other hand, fell for a cheap knock-off that looked genuine, and paid full price as if it was genuine, because he has the luck of, well, Teodor. He was destined to fail with a focus and intensity normally seen in successes, and the acquisition of a guitar is no exception to the rule.

You wouldn't think they'd need facilities

John Ryan

This explanation would make the most sense. Rickenbackers are made in Santa Ana, CA, but Lyle is exactly the type of bassist who would 1. drunkenly trip over his own instrument cable, damaging the output jack, and 2. buy the absolute cheapest possible after-market replacement. But because it is the output jack, it fully "Hechos" his tone on the way to the amplifier. A bit of a Magical Realism onboard preamp, if you will. <- and this is now in my head-canon.

This trio vs Ray is stupendous

Cf Duddy

I feel like the bass is a purebred Rickenbacker but maybe Lyle had to get the electronics replaced after decades of Lemmy emulation (Lemulation??)

The phrase "get's hecho'ed" completely validates the thought process I've experienced every time I've seen "Hecho en Mexico" for nearly twenty years now

Charles Richter

"Quip shittle" added to the vocabulary.

Here's what I'm curious about, Chris: How'd you decide to show the clock going from (roughly) 5:07 to 6:36? This is exactly the kind of detail I get snagged on for a stupidly long time when writing.
