For example, a federal law (which found its way into many townships) from the FDR era backed mortgage loans for anyone...as long as they weren't a person of color. The practice still exists today. And we wonder why we are where we are today. U-S-A! U-S-A!

2021-07-30 01:28:39 +0000 UTCOh. My. Gosh. As an individual who went thru a prescription pill addiction, that started with a surgery and then over-prescribed pills, the opening of this hits me hard. I am 41 years old. I have buried over 40 family, friends and acquaintances. I quit counting at 40. I can one million percent tell you that NO ONE wakes up one day and decides to try heroin. Hell, had I been properly educated on what prescription opiates do to you, I would have opted out. I am one of the lucky ones that got help before turning to heroin. But I was right on that cusp.....heroin is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying pills off the street. But I didn't quit after my 1st detox. I have been to rehab 3 times and I am happy to say I have been off pills since November 2010. Throwing people that are addicts in jail is not the answer. When they do recover, because I am proof that you can recover, all it does is make every obstacle 10 times harder. Fun fact......did you know that after 3 consecutive days of taking opiates, your brain synapses are permanently changed? Well, if you did not know that I understand. But guess who did? PURDUE PHARMA
