You tell such a dynamic and well thought out story that it’s hard to tell if you ever get upset. Identity theft and illegal immigration are two different things. What people would do well to consider in debating immigration reform is that for every person coming and staying here illegally, there is someone in the United States is giving that person a job. And if that someone is a meatpacking industry executive, they know that they're breaking the law and won't face any meaningful punishment. But the next bus of new workers will be coming any minute.

Kevin - I do know the process. Went through it with my family decades ago. As an immigrant I can understand why people oppose illegal immigration. We had to pass background checks, medical exams, and get any vaccinations we may have been missing. Also had to attend an interview by the US embassy so they get a sense of what we can contribute to the country. Then as soon as we landed here we got fingerprinted and put in the system. Doing it legally means you never have to worry about looking over your shoulder, or faking job application documents, or anything like that.

Kevin Xu - I actually work in the law so yes, I am aware of the laws actually very well. And time consuming or not, there are LAWS for a reason. Dont like them, than leave. Done.

I wonder if you actually know the process of coming here legally through all the steps...it's not like going to mexico for vacation where you can wave your privilege card(a US passport) and just go in a blink of an eye...if you're the kind to complain about waiting at the DMV for a drivers license, you won't appreciate the legal immigration process where you can do everything right and still get screwed by a lottery and quota system like it's the Hunger Games. Like yeah I know it's illegal, but I'm just saying I doubt that most Americans really know how privilege they are to be the dominant hegemon of the world and that nearly every other country let's them in and waits them hand and foot to learn English and american customs while we don't have to do the same for others

This one hit home, my mom was part of the swift raids back in 2006 here in Nebraska. Many families were affected including mine and it is true she came here illegally but not to take people jobs she came here to be able to give us a roof over our heads and an education. Because of this episode is the reason why I decided to become a patreon. Def was already falling in love with this podcast but this just tied the knot on me becoming a patreon.

I used the comments of someone who attended the protest. My comments were intended to point out the lack of self-awareness in those that fail to consider how reliant they actually are on the people that they want removed. The point of the entire episode is that the system is broken and people without a voice are being exploited. I think everybody can agree on that.

Except it wasn't anti-nationalist. Seems you picked some stereotypical redneck as the face of illegal immigration opposition. Sort of like picking an MS13 gang member as the face of the average illegal immigrant. Clearly not accurate. Plenty of legal immigrants, who had to jump through hoops (background checks, interviews, medical exams, vaccinations, fingerprinting, etc.) in order to arrive here legally, also oppose illegal immigration.
