I'm in Love with the Villainess Episode 12 (Full-length Watch Along)

Comments

(First of all let me thank you for following this series!!!) The original story is actually two full novels long. This season covers up through the 1st chapter of the 2nd novel. So a 2nd season would actually complete the original story. (Then there are 3 more novels, those are basically a sequel.) Personally I think this has a better chance than most yuri of getting a 2nd season. They could've tried to cram both novels into one cour but they didn't. Don't worry about Manaria, like the comments said her relationship was fully consensual. Iirc the novel describes that scene as the maid being a young Manaria's first love, and she and Manaria had an affair. But then one day the maid disappeared from the castle without a word. Manaria then wonders if it was ever real love or if the maid just reciprocated out of obligation. Heartbroken she hits up brothels where she didn't have to worry about the emotional aspect of a relationship. Then she gets found out and outed, leading to her being kicked out. It's interesting that Manaria's conditions for victory would still have Rae and Claire together (as Manaria's partners, but hey I'm down for poly). It's like Manaria still had a built in backup for if Rae lost. She really was Rae's ally (while also crushing on her) <3 "I can't even say what really matters without turning it into a joke" I love your take on this scene. Like you mentioned this was a big part of the problem up until now. This and Rae trying to help Claire get with Thane. This moment may be the most serious and earnest we've ever seen Rae share her feelings. And it's a proclamation that honestly couldn't have happened sooner. Because at first, to Claire, Rae was just some random commoner who randomly declared her love for her. It's only now, after they've spent adequate time together, that those feelings can make sense to Claire. Id be interested in manga reactions, though I don't know of a good video format for that (maybe you can be a pioneer). The manga for this series isn't that much further than the anime. So I'd actually recommend the light novels instead. This anime ended on the first chapter of book 2. And book 2 is the end of this arc. So as a test case for the format you can comfortably get away with trying just one book. (Or 2 if you start from the beginning.) Also if you're looking for more fantasy yuri anime content I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend "The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and Genius Young Lady". It's a very good, very explicitly gay, yuri fantasy series from earlier this year that I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed this show, and I think would be up your ally!

Looking forward to your 'reaction' to the manga if you do decide to read it! imo it's the best out of all the three mediums
