V0.4 Sneak Peek

The V0.4.0dev1 is nearing release, and I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some of the new features.  I have been focusing on the 3 things in this release:

1.  Simplify Configuration

I've added new automatic slicer settings configuration.  It is compatible with Slic3r PE and Simplify 3D right out of the box.  It will also work with Cura, but you must copy/paste in a settings template into either your start or end gcode, which is pretty simple and is a one time thing.

I've also added a new camera image settings screen to make it much easier and more convenient.  I posted about this earlier.

2.  Reduce Print Time

I've added two new stabilizations:

Minimize Travel -- This does exactly what you think it should:  It minimized the travel time!  Other than that it works just like the regular layer trigger.

Snap to Print -- This quasi-stabilization attempts to make a decent timelapse without ever moving the nozzle away from your print.  It also dramatically reduces print time (under 250MS per layer in my initial testing)

3.  Improve Print Quality

Both new stabilizations offer print quality improvement by themselves by reducing or completely eliminating travel moves, but they also have another as-of-yet unnamed feature that allows snapshots to occur ONLY when extruding at the fastest feedrate.  Typically this is infill, interior perimeters, etc, but is rarely an exterior perimeter (vase mode is an exception).  This has all of the benefits of the current 'feature detection' settings but with no configuration required!

Check out the youtube video above to see these features in action, and be sure to let me know what you think.  There are a few other gems hidden in this upcoming release that I'll share in another post.
