The latest entry from Penn's private book blog:
A Drink Before the War (Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro Book 1) by Dennis Lehane – 201204 – This is a light detective book. I mean, it has a lot to say about race and gangs in Boston, and I guess that’s heavy, but the style is detective. I’ve got a lot of heavy books started and I’m working through them, but I had enough going on, that I needed something that was light. Not light in terms of subject, it’s murder and stuff, but light in terms of style. I read another book by him that Eddie gave me, but this one is in the “Gone Baby Gone” style with the same characters. I loved that movie, so maybe I’ll read this whole series. It was just the book I felt like reading and I started the next one in the series. I may need books like this for a while.
