Also, just another note... I absolutely love how aggressive Cas is, this episode and next. We don't get to see Cas overly protective of Sam very often, but when we do, it always hits so hard, considering how every other angel has treated or seen Sam. And here, you feel Cas' guilt. Protecting Sam was what Cas thought was Dean's last, dying request, and he failed. So seeing him fight so hard to find Sam and bring him home safely, and just be absolutely livid with everyone involved in Sam's abduction is nice to see

I love this premiere so much. We haven't had Sam this sassy since his soulless days lol. Fun fact, Jared had to film the cold shower and foot burning scenes on his birthday. Also, i've heard (dont know if its been confirmed or not), but for the torture scenes, especially the hallucinations and the "just kill yourself" bit, Jared asked for a closed set, because of the places he would have to go to for Sam in those scenes, but he let Jensen be on set because he knew he could help bring him out of Sam's mindset. I do get your frustrations for this season, but I also really hope you enjoy it more. It is such a deep, complex season, especially with the dichotomey between small picture and greater good, and the exploration of where the line is, between hunter and monster. I find that, after the grandness of Amara, this is a very grounding season that really brings Supernatural back to its roots. We do get the introduction to Jack, and the expansion of cosmic entities, but for the most part, I feel like this is just a refresher on hunting as a whole. What hunting entails, and why it needs to be shades of grey, vs just black/white. It also, I think, retroactively adds a lot more complexity to former characters, like Gordon for example, who would have thrived with the Men of Letters. Or Bela, who I have a personal headcanon was deeply involved with the British faction, and was an asset if not a full member. I think it really helps to show how far Dean and Sam have come, and how much they have grown, while showing that sometimes, bigger, newer, fancier, isn't better. Overall, I just adore the themes and stories of this season. Also, I am most definitely a Sam girl, and the very prominant exploration of Sam's trauma this season sucked me right in lol. In a lot of ways, I feel like as much as season 10 dealt with Dean's anger issues, PTSD, anxiety and overall state of being, season 12 does the same thing with Sam, especially in regards to Lucifer. Which is why I think it was such a good time to begin to introduce Jack, who is very much Sam's parallel (Lucifer's son/Lucifer's vessel, destined for darkness, powerful beyond believe, supernatural abilities they need to learn to master, innocent sweethearts who deserve all the hugs etc). I also really think, now on your second watch, you'll see a lot of the similarities between Jack and Sam get set up really early
