What made the two friends when they were enemies is not respect. It's forgiveness. It always comes down to that. Even in the real world. 27:30 you two seemed to have missed it but the reason why Mikasa looked a bit mad is cuz Christa blushed when Eren said something to her, so it looked like they were "flirting" to Mikasa.

2025-10-14 04:40:15 +0000 UTCAnother minor detail. In episode 1 when Hannes was about to attempt to save Carla and the kids, in his inner monologue he mentions he can now repay the favor he owes. In "Bystander" we see that Grisha actually saved his unnamed wife from the epidemic that was spreading at the time. It makes his failed attempt to save Carla back in episode 1 even more tragic because he probably feels extremely guilty not being able to save her when Grisha was able to save his wife and he couldn't "repay" the debt he felt he owed. This show really punishes you for paying attention to certain details because that is just heartbreaking.

Cause of that he lives by violence and kill or be killed. He see's himself as worthless, and so doesn't consider himself worthy of being a parent, and yet so badly wants to know what its like to be empathetic. The ultimate power he felt he couldn't achieve was to see the world in a compassionate way.
