I am popping by just to let you guys know that I am HUGELY excited because my most favourite book series of all time is finally available in audiobook. I've read it on my Kobo many, many times, but now I can listen to it and I am DELIGHTED.

If you're interested, it's the Belisarius series by Eric Flint and David Drake. It is, bar none, the best alternate-history series I've ever read. I am hopelessly envious of the encyclopaedic knowledge of history required to write something like this, because my brain simply does not retain information that way, but I love every minute of the story it produces. It's full of fascinating characters, real history and alternate history, and a triumph of the human spirit against those who would make it petty and small more epic than any other. It has true love, courage, honour, and great faith, in both gods and in people, in the present and in the future, and it's wonderful. The complex plotting is brilliant, the writing is consistently excellent, and they're just a huge but incredibly satisfying read.

A number of you have commented on how hopeful even my darkest stories are. The Belisarius series is full of hope, even in the darkest and most tragic circumstances. Humanity goes to war against itself, in its own ancient past, and proves that it is worth fighting for.

The audiobooks are available on both Kobo and Amazon. I've only just started them, so I can't speak for the narrator beyond saying that I like him very much so far, but I cannot recommend the books themselves too highly.
